Godzilla and King Kong are back—and they’re angry.
The first trailer for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empirecontinuation in 2021 Godzilla vs. Kong, debuted on Sunday.
New Empireaccording to the synopsis, “it builds to an explosive showdown Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat lurking in our world, challenging their very existence – and our own.”

The film will “dive deeper into the history of these Titans, their origins and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while revealing the mythic battle that helped create these extraordinary beings and forever bind them to humanity.”

The trailer opens with the ground rumbling and a seismometer shaking frantically as a voice says, “For most of human civilization, we believed that life could only exist on the surface of our planet. What else did we get wrong?”
A large hand in yellow armor emerges from the ground, and viewers are treated to a brief glimpse of King Kong approaching the little monkey.
As an eerie sound is heard and the music increases in volume, text appears on the screen that reads: “Witness the rise of a new empire.”
“Kong can’t stop this alone,” a voice says before Godzilla is shown emerging from the water with glowing pink spikes. The trailer ends with an epic battle between Godzilla and Kong.
The new film brings back Rebecca Hall’s lead character Ilena Andrews, a scientist first seen in Godzilla vs. Kong.
The latest clash of the titans features Dan Stevens, Brian Tyree Henry and Kaylee Hottle.

Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard returned to directing A new empire from a screenplay written by Terry Rossio, Simon Barrett and Jeremy Slater.
The new movie comes as a spinoff series Monarch: Legacy of Monstersstarring Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell, is shown on Apple TV+.
