Ms. Lauryn Hill puts her health first.
A week after the Grammy winner, 48, postponed a show in Philadelphia on her 25th anniversary tour celebrating her 1998 album. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hillshe postponed another one on Monday due to ongoing vocal problems.
“As you may know, I’ve been doing my best to overcome a serious case of vocal strain/injury over the past week,” Hill wrote. X (formerly known as Twitter) hours before the show.
“I struggled during the last few shows, pushing my voice and covering up the injury with medication. This is neither safe nor sustainable. I woke up this morning hoping I’d have enough of a voice to make it through tonight, but I can barely talk, let alone sing or rap.”
The singer-songwriter had a performance scheduled for Monday night at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

“I need to heal and rest my voice in order to continue the tour. For these reasons, unfortunately, the doctors advised me to postpone tonight’s performance. Much love to all of you for your support and I look forward to returning to Texas soon.”
The singer of the song “Spremni ili ne” did not announce the postponed date of the performance.
She postponed her performance in Philadelphia last week and said doctors advised her to reschedule to prevent potential damage to her vocal cords.
Hill shared a statement on Xu and Instagram about the cancellation. “I am writing this message with disappointment. On the advice of my doctors, I have no choice but to postpone the show until tomorrow,” the “Nothing Even Matters” singer wrote about her show scheduled for October 23 at the Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia. “I need to rest my voice to prevent any more serious strain or damage my vocal cords.”
Later in the post, the music icon explained that the show will be rescheduled for November 25 and called it “special.”
In the statement, the “Doo Wop (That Thing)” singer also talked about how great it was to be back on the road celebrating her only studio album. She said: “The start of this tour was amazing. What an amazing experience to celebrate this anniversary with all my family, friends and all of you.”

“I look forward to giving you the performance you deserve with a fully recovered and healthy voice,” added the singer-songwriter.
The “Ex-Factor” artist also mentioned that after a few days of rest, she will resume her performances as scheduled starting October 26 in Toronto.
The Fugees, Hill’s band that also includes members Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel, was one of the headliners for the tour, and she also re-shared her statement on Instagram.
In August, the hip-hop icon announced a series of concerts in honor of the important anniversary of her Grammy-winning debut. The concerts began in September, and in early October, the artist expanded the tour with new dates in cities such as San Francisco, Atlanta, Nashville and Miami, among others, before officially ending in December.
The series of live shows also marks the hip-hop trio’s reunion and first tour in years.
