Muyiwa Ademola Authentic, better known as Muyiwa Ademola, is a Nigerian actor, film producer, film director, screenwriter and businessman. He is known for his performances in the Nigerian films Ori (2004), Indomie Lomo (2004) and Igi owo (2007).

Muyiwa Ademola was born on Tuesday, January 26, 1971 (age 50 years; as of 2021) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. His zodiac sign is Aquarius. Muyiwa completed his primary education at Christ Church School, Ibadan and Mapo V, Elekuro, Ibadan before proceeding to St. David’s High School, Molet, Ibadan to continue his secondary education. While in school, he obtained his West African Secondary School Certificate. After completing his education, Muyiwa joined a large Nigerian insurance company as a sales executive and worked there for a year. He then obtained a certificate in chemistry from an affiliated college of a London institute. Thereafter, he pursued a bachelor’s degree in adult education at the University of Ibadan. When Muyiwa was in primary school, he first tried acting. During a school play, his classmate had an accident while playing the lead role in the play and was unable to perform. At the time, Muyiwa was chosen by the school teacher as his replacement. A similar incident happened to him in secondary school. Muyiwa replaced Isola Ogunsola’s son, who had previously acted in a play. Despite being a science student, his interest in acting landed him a position as publicity director for the school’s press club. He had a corner on the school’s notice board called Muyi’s Corner, where he posted short poems, jokes and cartoons. While at university, he began writing plays and published his first novel, The Secret of Death, with the encouragement of his English teacher, Mr. Aluko.

Profession
Muyiwa entered the Nigerian film industry through Charles Olumo (a Yoruba actor). He then met a film director named SI Ola, who taught him acting and filmmaking. In 1991, Muyiwa made his debut in a Yoruba film. Four years later, he adapted his first screenplay into the film Asise (1995). In 2004, he directed and starred in the Yoruba film Ori, in which he played a madman. The film won the first African Movie Academy Award for Best Native Film in 2005.
He subsequently starred in films such as Ogo Pupa (2008), Fimidara Ire (2017) and Oko Gbarada (2019).
Besides being an actor, director and producer, he is also the CEO of Muy Authentic Presentations, a Nigerian film production company. In July 2015, he created a YouTube channel called MUY Authentic TV where he uploads entertainment videos.

- He grew up in a financially poor family in Abeokuta. In an interview, Muyiwa revealed that his family’s financial situation was so bad that his father never owned a motorcycle. He also revealed that the family did not have a television until he was in secondary school.
- Sharing details of his childhood in an interview, Muyiwa said,
I grew up in one of the slums of Ibadan. There was no electricity for years and I had to use the “kuufin” (local lamp) while studying for my SSCE (we only had one lamp and no one dared to touch it). I went to university 13 years after graduating from secondary school and yet I was praised for doing so.”
- In an interview, Muyiwa revealed that his family was not happy with his career choice. He said,
The first opposition to my choice of career came from my family. For example, my father could not understand why the son of a church elder had to move from one place to another to make a living. My father believed that acting was not suitable for any of his children. But I would not give in. ”

- In an interview, Ademola shared that there was a time in his life when he was very depressed and he felt that it was the end of him as an actor. His wife at the time assured him that it was just a transitional phase. Speaking about the incident, he said,
I was really down during that time. I’ve heard stories where you go home and sleep. I was really depressed and thought my days as an actor were over. But my wife helped me through that time. She assured me it was just a passing phase, and it was.
- In January 2013, Muyiwa was involved in a fatal accident and almost lost his life.
