Nadira, Lady Naipaul (born 1953) is a Pakistani journalist.

Parents and siblings
There is not much information about her parents. Nadira Naipaul has a brother, Amir Faisal Allawi, who is a two-star general in the Pakistan Army. He was assassinated in 2008.

When she was only 16 years old, Nadira married Agha Hashim, an engineer who was 26 years older than her. They have two daughters, Gul Zehra (aka Naeema Hashim) and Sumar Zahra, who were raised by different parents after their parents divorced Raised by relatives. Later, Nadira married Iqbal Shah and had a daughter named Maliha. British-Trinidadian novelist and Nobel Prize winner VS Naipaul married Nadira shortly after the death of his first wife, Patricia Hale, in 1996. VS Naipaul adopted Maleeha and Nadira also had a son named Nadir Shah.

I am Muslim. I was born into a Muslim family whose ancestry can be traced back to Semitic or Arabic heritage, although they have been living in the subcontinent for the past 200 years. “
Profession
She worked as a reporter for the Pakistani newspaper The Nation for ten years. Nadira Naipaul has been highly critical of some Muslim representatives in London. She said in an interview,
My people are not represented by the so-called Muslim Council of Britain, ironically they have fled to the West and can sit here waving the green flag and criticizing the government and laws that protect them. “
As a journalist, Nadira Naipaul is bold and outspoken. She said in an interview,
I am also a Muslim woman who has been fighting for ten years against the oppression of her people, especially women, by the clerics and feudal lords of our fragmented one-legged democracy. “

Madikizela-Mandela calls Nadira Naipaul a liar
During a visit to Mandela’s Soweto home with her husband VS Naipaul, Nadira Naipaul claimed to have been interviewed by Madikizela-Mandela about her husband. This interview formed the basis of Nadira Naipaul’s widely published article in the London Evening Standard. According to the article, Madikizela-Mandela claimed that her ex-husband Nelson Mandela betrayed South Africa’s majority black citizens by striking a deal with the then-white apartheid government.
Mandela failed us. He agreed to a deal that was terrible for black people. Economically we are still on the edge. The economy is very white. There is something about it that symbolizes blackness, but many who gave their lives in the struggle received nothing in return” – Madikizela-Mandela.
In an article published in The Sunday Times, Madikizela-Mandela denied that Naipaul had interviewed her, writing:
Ms. Naipaul is a liar and a liar. I was not interviewed by her. This article is a figment of her malicious imagination. ”

- Nadira Naipaul’s brother, Major General Amir Faisal Allawi, was the first Special Forces Commander (GOC) of the Pakistan Army.
- On November 19, 2008, Major General Amir Faisal Allawi was shot dead while driving to work in Islamabad. Islamic Jihad leader Ilyas Kashmiri was allegedly behind the murder.
