Nam Joo Hyuk was born on Tuesday, February 22, 1994 (26 years old in 2020) in Dongsam-dong, Yeongdo-gu, Busan, South Korea. His zodiac sign is Pisces.
He graduated from Sangri Elementary School, and then studied at Kyungham Middle School in Busan. He later moved to Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, and transferred to Suwon Changryong Middle School to complete his secondary school education. After arriving in Seoul, Joo Hyuk participated in the “Top Model” audition organized by K-Plus Model Agency and won the championship. He was then signed as an exclusive model for K-Plus and debuted in Songzio Homme 2014 Spring/Summer Collection in 2013.
In 2014, YG Entertainment and K-Plus signed a cooperation agreement, and Nam Joo Hyuk became a member of both companies. He has appeared in advertisements for brands such as Hyundai, SoCar, Nongshim, Le Coq Sportif and Aveda Korea. In November 2017, Philippine clothing brand Penshoppe signed Nam Joo Hyuk as its new model and became one of its brand ambassadors.

In April 2014, Nam Joo Hyuk starred in the music videos of “200%” and “Give Love” by the South Korean duo Akdong Musician.
The next month, in August 2014, he made his showbiz debut as “Park Deok Baek” in the Korean drama “The Extra Princess”.
He gained attention after playing the lead role “Han Yi-yeon” in the 2015 teen Korean drama “Who Are You: School 2015”.
He has appeared in many popular Korean dramas, including Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016), Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo (2016), Bride of Habaek (2017), The Light in Your Eyes (2019), Nursing School Files (2020), and Startup (2020). In 2018, he made his film debut as “Sa-mool” in the Korean historical epic action film The Great War (2018).
