The victim has now taken to social media to say she was “big let down” by the Metropolitan Police and criticized the response to the “savage” incident.

In the seven-minute video, the woman said: “I don’t think the situation would have gotten as much attention as it has, but the support has been overwhelming.

“With all the attention the video has gotten and seeing everything in the news about violence against women, violence against young women, violence against girls, I think it’s important to talk about what actually happened.

“Before I explain [what happened]I want to say that what is more worrying than the mass behavior is the failure of the city police and their behavior.

“They failed me badly, now they have reopened the investigation.

“Thanks for all the support and attention he’s getting online. And for that I’m grateful.

“However, I was really disappointed and disappointed with what happened with the police then.”

The video, which went viral on X this week, shows a waitress serving a man, a woman and a child.

As she places the food in front of the man, he appears to lunge forward and “slap” her with the plate.

The woman accompanying him seems stunned and quickly gathers up the child to leave – with the man in tow.

The waitress seems to shout something before quickly walking away.

Onlookers look shocked as the family leaves the premises.

The footage has been shared online saying the man “slapped an employee in the face with a plate”.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “We are aware of a video circulating online showing an incident at a branch of Nando’s in Stratford which took place in March.

“A report of the assault was made to the police at the time of the incident, however, it appears that the officers did not take it up immediately.

“We are working to establish why this happened and accept that it is not the level of service that Londoners should rightly expect from the Met.

“We have since made contact with the victim and taken a statement – we will endeavor to keep her informed of the progress of this investigation.

“No arrests have been made and an investigation is underway to locate the man involved.

“Anyone who can provide information about this incident should call 101 ref. CAD 1872/21 Aug.

A Nando’s spokesman said: “This was a shocking and unprovoked attack earlier this year.

“We immediately reported it to the police and have been supporting our colleague ever since.

“We will not tolerate this kind of behavior, the safety of our colleagues and customers is our priority.”
