National War Memorial: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has added a new chapter to Class 7. Students will learn about the National War Memorial “Tribute to our Brave Soldiers” from the academic year 2023/24.

According to an official statement, “The chapter highlights the history, significance and concept of the National War Memorial along with the supreme sacrifice made by the Brave Hearts of the Armed Forces in the service of the nation after independence.”

Both the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Education have undertaken the goal of “inculcating the values ​​of patriotism, devotion to duty, courage and self-sacrifice among school children and increasing the participation of young people in nation building”.

What is the National War Memorial Chapter about?

In this chapter, two friends exchange letters and share the sense of gratitude they feel for the sacrifices made by the armed forces.

The Ministry of Defense further said, “The authors of NCERT have creatively brought out the deep emotional impact and connection, which occurs in the minds and hearts of children as they visit the iconic monument.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the National War Memorial in New Delhi to the country on February 25, 2019. According to him, the memorial was erected to instill a sense of sacrifice and national spirit among the citizens. The monument will honor the brave soldiers who lost their lives securing the lives of millions.
