Neve Campbell Is Still 'Tight' with Party of Five Costars — and Recently Attended Lacey Chabert's Birthday (Exclusive)

Although 30 years have passed since then Party of five aired its first episode, Neve Campbell says that the cast is still a thief and that they remain integral parts of others’ lives.

As she ponders where Julia Salinger would be working today, the 50-year-old actress tells PEOPLE exclusively that she trusts her Party of five character would be a “professional writer” for The New York Times. As for her personal life, Campbell says fans would like to think Julia would end up with Michael Goorjian’s Justin Thompson.

“It’s funny, Michael Goorjian, who played Justin, is our kids’ godfather,” she smiles, referring to the children she shares with partner JJ Feild. “He’s one of our best friends. So we’ve stayed very close.”

Party of five it aired its first episode in 1994 and ended after six seasons in 2000. The series focused on the Sallinger siblings who were left to grow up alone after losing their parents in a car accident. In addition to Campbell and Goorjian, the series starred Matthew Fox (Charlie), Scott Wolf (Bailey), Lacey Chabert (Claudia) and Jacob Smith (baby Owen).

Over the years, the cast has stayed together. The Scream alum tells PEOPLE that Chabert “doesn’t live far from us” and they see each other often.

“I turned 40 this year,” she recalls. “She was a tiny little girl when I met her. It was so crazy, and she’s a happy mom and an amazing woman.”

Scott Wolf is still in touch with the cast of ‘Party of Five’ and is weighing a reboot

Campbell also says she and Feild were on “vacation” with Wolf and his wife, Kelly. During a recent trip to Venice, Italy, she tried to meet with Fox and his wife Margie, but they just “missed each other.” “We’re all still pretty close,” she explains. “We played siblings, brothers and sisters, who went through a really traumatic time. And there were deep things in that play, big questions that the audience agreed with us on. But we lived it every day.”

After filming for “16 to 17 hours a day, Monday through Friday, 10 months out of the year,” Campbell says the cast has formed a bond that won’t be broken easily.

“We spent more time with each other than any of our family or friends. So of course you get tight,” he adds.
