In March 2017, Weiss appeared on the Fat Mascara beauty podcast, teasing one makeup product that proves it’s nearly impossible to get right—and after 18 months and 248 iterations, Glossier Lash Slick Mascara has arrived (and is now, finally, available for shopping in Australia). Described by the brand as an “everyday mascara,” Lash Slick existed as the most modest product Glossier has ever launched. How is that possible? Let’s start with the bristles. But no matter how many times you use this mascara, the volume stays roughly at the same “everyday” level. Needless to say, it’s not the kind of mascara you’d use for nights when you’re feeling dramatic. Perhaps adding to this is the fact that the formula now comes in an extremely wearable brown, along with the classic black. However, the biggest bonus is the easily removable formula. It is water resistant — not waterproof — so this mascara comes off when you want it to, but not when you’re buckets of sweat deep in hot yoga after work. Still, like other launches that came before it, Lash Slick isn’t completely unique in the market — Pacifica’s Dream Big and Benefit’s Roller Lash are two well-known alternatives.
