Nicki Minaj’s Husband Sentenced to House Arrest After Allegedly Threatening Rapper Offset

Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty has been placed under house arrest for violating the terms of his probation.

The offense allegedly involved Petty, 45, threatening rapper Cardi B’s husband Offset via social media, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In court documents filed Wednesday, a federal judge in Los Angeles sentenced Petty to 120 days of house arrest after he was caught on video “directing threatening words toward a specific person while in the company of someone with a criminal record.”

The person he directed his threatening remarks to was rapper Migos, according to the media release — although Offset (né Kiari Kendrell Cephus) was not specifically named in the legal documents obtained by PEOPLE.

The filing stated that Petty’s recent behavior “raises concern” due to his “willingness to comply with court orders,” and that Petty’s probation officer “believes that placement in the Location Monitoring Program will effectively allow for closer monitoring of Mr. Petty’s activities, restrict his movements , provide for sanctions for his non-compliance” and “encourage him to reflect and reconsider his current status in the community.”

Reps for Minaj and Offset did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Petty’s remarks violated the probation he was sentenced to in July 2022. He was then sentenced to three years of probation and one year of house arrest, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, after pleading guilty to failing to declare the sex of an offender in the state of California in 2020.

He had to apply because he was convicted of first-degree attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl in 1995, for which he was sentenced to 18 to 54 months and ended up serving four years in prison.

Petty’s alleged rape victim previously filed a lawsuit against Minaj, 40, and her husband, accusing them of trying to intimidate her into dropping the rape allegation in 2021. However, the case against Minaj was dismissed the following year, according to documents released got PEOPLE.
