Brian Setzer is an American guitarist, singer and songwriter who is best known as the co-founder and lead singer of the rockabilly band Stray Cats. He later founded The Brian Setzer Orchestra, of which he is the sole manager. He is also a member of The Bloodless Pharaohs, The Tomcats and Jeff Beck.

Brian Setzer was born on April 10, 1959 in the town of Massapequa, New York in a middle-class family. He was interested in music from an early age and started playing musical instruments. He was one of the main tam players and played the euphonium in his school band. He quickly got into jazz, performing at the Village Vanguard.

Brian began his career after becoming interested in jazz music and began performing at the Village Vanguard jazz club in Greenwich Village. He then joined the Tomcats with his brother Gary. The band’s name was later changed to Stray Cats. Gary soon left the band and was joined by Lee Rocker and drummer Slim Jim Phantom. Stray Cats (Arista, 1981) was their breakthrough album, featuring two number one singles. The album Built for Speed (EMI, 1982) was produced by Dave Edmunds. Their next album, ‘Rant n’ Rave with the Stray Cats’, was released in 1983.
The Stray Cats broke up in 1984, and Brian began a solo career. He got the band together and founded The Brian Setzer Orchestra. After releasing their cover of “Jump, Jive, and Wail,” the group quickly became a crowd favorite. With the same song, they also won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. Their next single, “Sleep Walk”, was nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Performance.
