Nicole Kidman Says She ‘Wore a Hat’ to Disguise Herself While Partying in Fire Island

Nicole Kidman knows how to keep a low profile when she travels.

The A family affair star, 57, described how she managed to fly under the radar while visiting Fire Island during an interview for the September 2024 cover. L’Officiel USA.

Kidman explained how the New York hot spot of Long Island, which inspired the 2022 rom-com of the same name, is known for its “wild parties” and boulevard of events.

The actress noted that she visited the island to attend a Fourth of July party and “got a lot of love” during her trip. She said she was able to fully enjoy the destination thanks to her smart mask.

“I was wearing a hat,” she said.

Kidman also revealed her love of travel and how she passed it on to her children. She shares two children, Bella and Connor, with her ex Tom Cruise, and two daughters, Sunday and Faith, with her husband Keith Urban.

“My children are willing to travel… maybe less so now [that they’re older]but they are also very interested in the world. They say they have so many stamps in their passports, more than most people in their eighties,” says Kidman.

She considered her work the main reason why her children’s passports are full of stamps from “all over” the world, because she is “ready” to travel far for her films. Her children have lived in places like “Morocco, France, Australia, England, Scotland, Ireland, Vietnam, Hong Kong,” she said.

The Big little lies the star added that traveling is important to her because it is part of her “global education”.

“He gave me an empathetic heart and a way into people’s lives that I would never have been exposed to [otherwise]”, she told the newspaper. “I don’t think it’s good to exist only in your own territory.”

She continued, “I’ve always tried to understand, learn and see different perspectives as I was raised. That’s probably why I travel. It gives me a better understanding of how people see their country in relation to the world.”

Kidman is gearing up for the premiere of her upcoming film, A24’s Girlin December. In the erotic drama, the actress portrays a business manager who has an affair with her intern.

She opened up about the challenging role and how it left her “shattered” while speaking to her Vanity Fair earlier in August.

“At one point I thought, I don’t want to be touched. I don’t want to do this anymore, but at the same time I was forced to do it,” she said. “I’ve made several films that are quite revealing, but not like this.”
