She received her MA in Conflict Studies and Human Rights (2018-2019) from Utrecht University, a public research university in Utrecht, the Netherlands, with a GPA of 8.6. While studying for her master’s degree, she wrote an article titled “(Re)imagining Azadi – How young Kashmiri Muslim women in Srinagar express their feelings about Azadi after the killing of Burhan Wani in 2016 freedom) idea?” essay. I think the biggest challenge for me is making sure I keep my angry feelings intact. As a young journalist, I was often told by seniors that to survive in the profession, you had to be “thick-skinned” and become a bit desensitized and desensitized. Although I believe the day I become insensitive is the day I have to stop reporting. I find that to tell a sensitive story, it’s most important to be a sensitive person first. In 2017, she traveled to Kashmir for the first time and worked as a reporter for the Kashmir Observer, a local newspaper that provides Kashmiri news, for three months. In May 2017, she moved to Indian independent news media company Newslaundry as Kashmir Correspondent, covering militancy, military, securitization, policy and gender-related issues in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. According to Nidhi, while working at Newslaundry, she decided to pursue a master’s degree and take a break. In May 2019, she joined New Delhi-based Quill Foundation, an organization that addresses social issues such as injustice, inequality and human rights violations, and worked there for a year. Hatteras case
In 2020, she reported on the Hathras case, which involved the gang-rape of a 19-year-old Dalit woman by four upper-caste men in Hathras Chanda village in Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred on September 14, 2020. Nidhi identified the victim in the report as Asha; Asha died on September 29, 2020. The accused Sandeep Thakur, Ravi Thakur, Ramu Thakur and Luvkush Thakur were arrested by the officials . Nidhi followed the case for months, analyzing the current situation of the Hatteras victims’ families and getting the latest updates on the case. Asha’s mother said of the incident:

farmers protest
Nidhi Suresh’s active coverage of the farmers’ protests at the Tikri and Singhu borders triggered violence at the Red Fort by a group of farmers from Punjab and Haryana. The protest was against the three agricultural bills passed by the Indian Parliament in 2020; the protest began on February 9, 2020, and lasted until December 11, 2021. She covered the protest extensively and wrote many stories about it. Nidhi shared her experience capturing the details of the border protests on social media. Nidhi revealed many things from the media’s lens, which she later shared on social media. In an interview, she spoke about the importance of media highlighting farmers’ issues during protests. She said,
It was also during the farmers’ protests that we realized the importance of media coverage. ”
A video of Nidhi Suresh reportedly being held back by the police went viral; the incident was opposed by the Federation of Women Journalists (CFWIJ), an organization that supports female journalists around the world organize.

Nidhi Suresh is one of the investigators for a documentary by Ramita Navai. Ramita Navai is an award-winning British-Iranian investigative journalist, documentary maker and author who has investigated numerous stories of sexual violence around the world. This documentary flips every chapter of a covered-up rape case involving people in power. The documentary tells the story of two teenage girls, Jaya who was raped by Kuldeep Singh Sengar, a well-placed member of the BJP, and Manisha. It was a 19-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh, India, who died in hospital a week after the rape. Gang-raped, her parents refused to attend her cremation. These cases were known as the Unnao Rape Case and the Hathras Case. In a 2021 interview, Ramita Navai shared her thoughts on the escalation of sexual crimes after speaking with some journalists in India about the government’s review of rape cases in the country. She said,
I have interviewed many journalists who have been threatened for reporting on rape. Here’s where it gets interesting: Why would the government censor rape stories? The number of rape cases has actually increased under Modi since he made the pledge – which is why they are trying to silence these stories before they go public. ”
In 2021, Lamita expressed the purpose of making this documentary in an interview, calling it a documentary from the perspective of bringing changes to the system and bringing justice to the victims. She said,
