Nihar Thackeray is an Indian lawyer and founder and member of Vis Legis Law Practice Advocates. He was the grandson of Bal Thackeray.

On March 10, 2011, Mumbai police filed a case against Nihar Thackeray for human trafficking. Police raided the Sangeet bar in west Santa Cruz and rescued nine women from the bar. Police said the women were prostitutes working in the bar, which was located on Nihar Thackeray’s land. Police also claimed that Nihal also ran bars in other parts of the city. However, he was later cleared of all charges.

- When Eknath Shinde rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray, Nihal Thackeray supported Eknath Shinde. Nihal said in an interview that he believed Eknath Shinde was following Bal Thackeray’s ideology. Nihal said he might also enter politics. He said in an interview with the media,
“I will always contest by-polls and BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) polls if required. I will continue to support Sindh Temple. Balasaheb has made it clear that he will not fight with the Congress under any circumstances The parties joined forces. Whatever the reason, what happened was that the Maha Vikas Aghadi government (Sena, Congress and NCP) came to power and then… Shinde Saheb decided to leave. ”
- In 1996, Nihal’s father passed away untimely, and Nihal’s mother Madhavi Thackeray left her paternal home, Matoshri, with Nihal and Niha. Since then, Nihal’s family has been living independently.
