Nikhil Chaudhary is an Indian-born cricketer who gained recognition for becoming the second Indian player after Unmukt Chand to represent Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League (BBL).

In the 2016-2017 season, he participated in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring 25 runs and taking 2 wickets against Haryana. In 2017, Choudhury gained recognition in the Indian domestic cricket community as a player who excelled both in batting and all-around. An all-rounder, he enjoyed success in the U-19 cricket team and earned a spot in the Punjab team.
He made his Twenty20 cricket debut for Punjab on 29 January 2017 in the inter-state Twenty20 tournament. Nikhil entered A-level cricket in 2017 and made his debut against Haryana. He played 2 A-grade matches and 16 T-20 matches for Punjab, scoring a total of 203 runs and taking 10 wickets during this period. He scored 500 runs in 7 games in the CK Naidu Trophy U23 Colonels.
In his domestic cricket career, he has played well and scored 106 runs in T20 matches at an average of 17.66 and a strike rate of 130.86. Additionally, he also took a few wickets in the same format with an economy rate of 8. In the Group A match, he scored 25 runs and also took a wicket. While in Australia, he actively participated in matches for the Northern Suburbs Cricket Club and attracted attention for his outstanding performances. His finest moment came in the semi-finals when he hit seven sixes. This outstanding performance earned him a place in the Big Bash League (BBL) after his coach, former Australian cricketer James Hopes, recommended him to the Hobart Hurricanes. In 2018, he won the Under-23 One-Day Championship.
In 2023, after playing first-grade cricket in Brisbane, Choudhury joined the Hobart Hurricanes for the 2023-24 Big Bash League season.
In his first match against the Perth Scorchers on December 20, 2023, he captured the attention of the crowd with a score of 40 points off 31 balls. He was bowled by left-arm fast bowler Jason Behrendorff. Additionally, he scored a six against Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf in the same match. On December 28, 2023, he scored 32 points in 16 balls against the Melbourne Stars. In 2023, he met Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan in a selection match and hit two sixes in a single over. On 1 January 2024, he took two wickets against Sydney Thunder and made an impact on the wicket statistics.

In March 2024, an Australian court began Nikhil’s trial after he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman. According to reports, the incident occurred in May 2021. While accusing Nikhil of rape, the victim said Nikhil took advantage of her after meeting him at an Australian nightclub and committed the crime in his car on Flinders Street.
