Nina Singh is a police officer of the 1989-batch Rajasthan cadre of the Indian Police Service (IPS). She has held key positions in various central government agencies including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). She is also the first woman IPS officer to be posted in the Rajasthan cadre. In December 2023, she made headlines when she became the first woman to be appointed Director General (DG) of CISF.

Nina Singh, known before marriage as Nina Rani, was born on Saturday, July 11, 1964, in Darbhanga, Patna, India (age 59; as of 2023). Her zodiac sign is Cancer. After completing her education in Bihar, she enrolled in Patna Women’s College, where she received her bachelor’s degree. She then joined Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, where she received her Master’s degree. She received her Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Patna College for Women. Harvard Kennedy School. She later earned a degree in social program evaluation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States. After completing her formal education, Nina appeared for the UPSC Civil Services Examination and successfully passed it. Thereafter, she reported to the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad, Telangana, where she underwent the police training module.

Profession
Nina was initially posted to Manipur cadre on August 21, 1989. She subsequently held many posts in the Manipur cadre. Thereafter, she was transferred to the Rajasthan cadre, becoming the first woman IPS officer to be posted in the Rajasthan cadre.
In 2000, she launched a creative outreach initiative as secretary of the Rajasthan State Commission for Women. The program aims to provide support to women facing difficulties by organizing hearings in various districts and providing them with a platform to voice their concerns. In Rajasthan, she held many important positions such as Additional Director General (Training) and Director General Civil Rights and Anti-Human Trafficking. In 2013, she was posted to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to handle major and sensational cases such as the Sheena Bora murder case, the PNB scam case, the Nirav Modi case and the Jiah Khan suicide case. She served with the CBI until 2018. She was posted as Rajasthan chief secretary (health) amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Thereafter, she was appointed as Special Director General of CISF.
On December 28, 2023, she took over as Director General (DG) of CISF.
