Fake degree controversy
In March 2023, All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) member Mahua Moitra claimed that the Nishikant degree he mentioned in his affidavit submitted to the Election Commission of India was fake. She noted that Nisikante was 37 in 2009 and 42 in 2014, so he must have been born in 1972. But according to his affidavit, he completed 10th grade in 1982, meaning he was only 10 years old at the time. She further added that Nishikant’s MBA degree was also fake as as per the RTI (right to information) filed by her, there was no student named Nishikant Dubey in Delhi University in 1993. She asked the Privileges Committee to look into the matter and terminate his membership in the Lok Sabha.
