NMMS scholarship 2023-24
NMMS Scholarship 2023-24: The Department of School Education and Literacy, under the Ministry of Education, has started online registration for the National Merit and Means Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS). Students can apply on the official website of the National Scholarship Portal (NSP): scholarships.gov.in. The deadline for applying for the scholarship competition is November 30.
The scholarship will be awarded to deserving students from grades 9 to 12 who belong to economically weaker sections. The goal of awarding this scholarship is to reduce the dropout rate of students in the 8th grade and encourage them to continue their education in high school.

Who is eligible for the NMMS Scholarship Scheme 2023?
As per available details, students whose parental income from all sources is not more than Rs. 3,50,000 per annum is eligible for the scheme. Students must have a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent marks in the 7th grade examination to take the selection test for the award of the NMMS scholarship. Those belonging to SC and ST categories will get 5% discount in minimum qualifying marks.
Renewal of the NMMS scholarship scheme
The ministry said that one lakh new scholarships are awarded to selected students from class 9 annually and after their continuation/renewal in classes 10 to 12 for students studying in state, government and local schools. Students are awarded a stipend of Rs 12,000 per annum. The scholarship amount is paid directly to the bank account of the selected students by electronic transfer through the Public Finance Management System (PFMS) following the DBT method.
Certification of NMMS scholarship
There are two levels of verification for NSP applications: first is institutional/school level by Institute Nodal Officer (INO) which will be conducted on 15th December and second is by District Nodal Officer (DNO) which will be held on 15th December. December 30, 2023.
