ITV made a huge mistake during tonight’s National Television Awards, revealing the winner of one category before they were announced.
Viewers at home were left confused as a picture of Coronation Street’s Peter Ash, playing Paul Foreman, was shown on TV at the wrong time.

It came while the candidates for the Reality Competition were being read, at the moment when a clip of Race Across The World was shown.
Soon after, Peter was announced as the winner of the Serial Drama Performance Award for his role in the soap opera.
The gaffe did not bypass fans who soon flocked to X, formerly Twitter.
One wrote: “Why did Paul dying just appear on our screens? calm down,” while another added: “No Paul jumpscare.”
Someone else joked: “I guess we know Corrie won best soap then,” while a fourth asked: “Why was Paul there on my screen?”
Another chimed in with: “random picture of paul from corrie????”
Peter said winning the gong was an “amazing way” to end his time on the soap.
His character Paul Foreman’s storyline shows him deteriorating as he battled Motor Neurone Disease (MND), and the character recently died from the disease.
Collecting the award at the awards ceremony in London, he said: “This is really amazing – what an amazing way to end my six years on Coronation Street.”
He also thanked the Corrie team and the charities who supported him, paying special tribute to Daniel Brocklebank, who played his on-screen husband Billy Mayhew.

Ash said he “couldn’t have asked for anyone better to work on this story with”.
At another point in the ceremony, viewers were left convinced they spotted Martin Lewis looking furious at missing out on the gong from Stacey Solomon.
Stacey won the award for Factual Entertainment for her hit show Sort Your Life Out and was overcome with emotion when her name was announced.
The NTA was not a big surprise, says our TV expert
COMMENTARY OF GENDER MCPHEE
The only surprise at tonight’s National Television Awards was that there were practically no surprises.
Ant and Dec took home the Presenter Award for the millionth time, the Strictly bagged Talent Show gong, and I’m a Celebrity triumphed in the Entertainment category.
Kate Garraway winning the original documentary award for Derek’s Story was thoroughly deserved, but not a total shock as she did the same two years ago with Care for Derek.
There were a few curveballs. Emmerdale beating soap opera Goliath EastEnders and Corrie was unexpected, especially as both rivals have boasted big stories recently.
And while there was no doubting how touching Mr BatesVs The Post Office was for viewers this year, it was stunning to see them win three awards.
Does the general lack of surprise diminish the excitement of the NTA? Not at all. It remains one of the few awards shows that actually measures what the majority of Brits actually watch.
We live in a confusing world where scandals often rock shows, in an age where streaming means a diminished shared experience and ratings are hard to decipher.
However, year after year, the NTA voters leave us in no doubt as to which series they adore, which they dislike and which celebrities they are willing to support.
Look at how quickly NTA voters embraced relatively new series like The Traitors, Bridgerton and The 1% Club.
They are not interested in PR tricks and promotion, high-profile actors and writers praised by their lover friends, and certainly cannot stand being dictated to what they should watch.
They tell us all loud and clear, every year, who they think is the best – and woe to any broadcaster who ignores them.
But those watching at home noticed Martin’s face and were quick to comment.
One person remarked: “You could tell Martin Lewis was raging he wanted to win, he’s sitting there thinking I’m doing all this s**t for nothing.”
Another said: “Martin Lewis is foooo.”
While a third added: “Martin Lewis is furious.”
“Martin Lewis didn’t look too happy,” said a fourth.
As well as The Martin Lewis Money Show, Stacey beat Clarkson’s Farm, Gogglebox and The Yorkshire Vet in the factual entertainment category.
