Munn wore a floor-length black slip dress, while Mulaney opted for a black suit and white button-down tie.

When it was time for Munna’s award, Mulaney took the stage to present it to her.

He shared with the group in attendance about Munna’s journey with breast cancer and how scary it was, but how brave she was — and the impact she had on other women by sharing her story.

“About a year [after learning of her diagnosis]Olivia shared her story,” he told the crowd. “Her cancer journey. It was a cancer that was not detected by the BRCA gene test, not detected by the mammogram. This was discovered because she took a previously unknown test called the Lifetime Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Test and they found she had a 37 percent chance of breast cancer. About a month later, she had a double mastectomy. She shared her story to help everyone she could. According to the National Cancer Institute, in the week after Olivia shared the story of her breast cancer journey, there was a 4,000 percent increase in the number of women visiting the breast cancer risk assessment unit. That was the first week. It doesn’t surprise me that Olivia is saving lives by telling her truth.”

In announcing the awards, InStyle called the actress a “pillar of strength.”

This week, Munn posed for SKIMS and showed off her mastectomy scars for the first time. The campaign will help raise money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

“I felt a sense of freedom,” Munn said Today after the release of the campaign. “It’s a part of my journey that was hidden, so sharing it was liberating.”
