Olympian Tom Daley Jokes His Youngest Son Is 'Feral': 'He's All About the Adrenaline' (Exclusive)

Tom Daley’s youngest son has clearly inherited his sporting side.

The retired British diver has two boys with husband Dustin Lance Black, but son Phoenix Rose, 20 months, is “like wild”, jokes Daley, 30.

“He’s like a climber, a runner, a jumper,” Daley told PEOPLE at the Out100 Celebration in Los Angeles on Dec. 11. “Like anything he can do to try to hurt himself, he will try and do.”

His son, Robert “Robbie” Ray, 6, though moves a little slower, Daley says.

“Whereas Robbie is a bit more on the creative side, he likes to do things slowly and likes to build Legos and all that stuff, while Phoenix is all about adrenaline,” the five-time Olympic medalist explains while at NeueHouse.

This year has been a bit of a “fairy tale” for Daley, who was honored as part of the 2024 Out100 at an event on Wednesday. Daley also won a silver medal in Paris during the 2024 Olympics during the summer.

And ahead of the holidays, he’s excited to celebrate with Phoenix and Robbie, as well as other family, in Los Angeles.

“We always make Christmas cookies before Christmas,” says Daley. “It’s only been in the last few years, but we usually go to a fancy brunch or something on Christmas Eve before our family gets into town. There are a lot of traditions… I love the holiday season.”
