Jon Cryer Builds an Elaborate Christmas Village Each Year for the Holidays: 'It Gets Intense' (Exclusive)

Jon Cryer is getting into the holiday spirit – like, really getting into it.

“I’m building a silly Christmas village,” the 59-year-old actor told PEOPLE at the 2024 Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Gala.

“Though I’m holding back a bit this year, because I usually have themes,” he continued. “Like, I’ve done one in Los Angeles, I’ve done one in Paris, I’ve done one in London. This year I’m only going to do Americana. I’m going to go old school.”

“It gets intense,” added Cryer’s wife, Lisa Joyner.

As for where he places his elaborate display, Cryer said, “I do it all in front of the fireplace, and I basically build a whole extra space just to contain it all.”

Joyner added, “It goes on the floors, in the living room.”

The Two and a half men The alum also told PEOPLE that he doesn’t just build a village with store-bought goods.

“I use tiny figurines, 50 of them, little houses and everything. Everything is detailed and lit,” he explained.

“There are little carnival rides and ski slopes. I have a ski lift that goes up and down,” Cryer added, as Joyner noted, “He makes waterfalls.”

For those cases where there’s something that can’t be bought, Cryer said he takes matters into his own hands.

“I used a 3D printer when I had Los Angeles and I printed a few of those buildings. The Cinerama Dome, my friend made LAX, I made Disney Hall and City Hall,” he explained, adding, “I made Die a man building — Nakatomi Plaza — and I had a little guy hanging in a helicopter above the building.”

Cryer and Joyner, who married in 2007, have no young children together who could claim the village. (Cryer shares son Charlie, 23, with his first wife.)

Still, the couple said they had to be careful with their two rescue dogs, although Cryer admitted they appeared to be aware the village was off-limits.

“They were very respectful,” the actor said, while his wife added: “They messed up, it’s over.”
