Only the top 1% of people can see all the horses in mind-bending optical illusion – how many do you spot?

This illustration supposedly shows seven horses, but only a fraction of the population can see each animal in this tricky optical illusion.

If you see all seven, you’re part of the lucky one percent, and you’ll be the envy of the thousands of Internet users who made the effort to view each horse.

According to TikTok personality Lexi Natoli, who shared the illusion with her 2.6 million followers, staring at the illusion for too long won’t help you figure it out.

“Only one percent of the horses can see all the horses hidden in it,” he said, holding up an illustration by Bev Doolittle.

“Most people can only see four or five, no matter how long they look at it,” Natoli said.

He also issued a warning, informing viewers that they might have more luck seeing each horse if they adjust their expectations. “Some of the horses may only be partial, just the back or the head,” she explained.

But even her own familiarity with the painting did not help her see the hidden horses.

“I’ve been looking at it forever and I only see five,” Natoli said.

In the comments section, confused viewers admitted defeat after addressing the image themselves.

“Seeing six. Final answer,” wrote one commenter.

“I don’t know what I’m looking at,” said another confused viewer. “I see four and I see five.”

The lucky few who saw all seven horses were eager to take their first places.

“If I’m honest, I look at it for 20 seconds and I see all of them,” the viewer casually admitted.

“Look at the paws,” several viewers recommended, claiming that counting the paws helped them see all seven animals.

Another viewer gave more specific instructions. There were “five adults, a baby and a horse” on the rock, he said.

Doolittle claims that his painting only has five horses, but the misleading painting has baffled even scientists.

According to an expert from the National Institute for Environmental Health Services (NIEHS), there are definitely seven horses in the illustration.

“I see one on the left looking out, and in the middle four faces are grouped close together – in that group the brown nose of one (second from the left) covers the right side of the face of the one that is more inclined” said one scientist claimed.

“To the right is a small horse standing sideways, and above is the rear of the seventh,” the expert wrote, cheekily adding, “unless I’m hallucinating.”

For their part, viewers of the video encouraged each other to keep watching.

“I see seven. Just look closer and you’ll see the last one,” the commenter insisted.
