The Pogues go on another treasure hunt!

In front of something Foreign banks season 3, the cast announced the show’s renewal for a fourth season during their Poguelandia fan event on February 18.

“Seeing Poguelandia come to life is nothing short of spectacular,” series co-creators, executive producers and showrunners Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke said in a joint statement to Diversity. “The Pogues are enjoying the adventure of a lifetime and now we can plan more twists and turns as the fun continues in Season 4 Foreign banks. Thank you to Netflix, our crew and the amazing fans who helped make this happen.”

While details about season four are scarce, the season three finale sets up the story perfectly. After their adventures in El Dorado, an 18-month time jump shows the Pogues being honored for their discoveries back home. In the last scene of season 3, they are also involved in another adventure that revolves around Edward Teach, known as the infamous pirate Blackbeard.

It is assumed that the main actors will return for Foreign banks season 4, including Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Carlacia Grant, Austin North and Drew Starkey.

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE, Daviss admitted that he’s curious to see how the Pogues’ relationship will progress in season four.

“There’s no way they’re not looking for treasure, so how did it get involved in all of this?” he teased. “What’s his relationship with JJ and Kiara like now? Is it different? Is his relationship with John B different? They’re all still friends, but it’s been a year. So I’m interested to see what that interpersonal dynamic is like.”

After the shocking deaths of Ward Cameron and John Routledge in the season three finale, it’s possible that Charles Esten and Charles Halford won’t be returning for season four.

Starkey spoke with PEOPLE about how he thinks his character Rafe will react to his father Ward Cameron’s death … especially after he punched him in season three.

“It’s interesting because he’s already made a conscious decision to go into these uncharted waters of independence this season,” he said.

“The first two seasons, you saw him lean on his family and his father, and then this season he allows himself to let go of that. It could go one of two ways: he could accept it and move forward, or he could react a little more aggressive.”

As teased in the season 3 finale, the series features a major time jump as the Pogues are honored for their discovery of El Dorado and also given the chance to embark on a new adventure, seemingly in search of the famous pirate Blackbeard’s hidden treasure.

For Bailey, the actress told PEOPLE that the new treasure hunt feels like a “fresh start” for the series. “[Fans] we shouldn’t interpret it as the end of an era, but we’re pretty much summing up seasons one and two with the button,” she teased.

“It can go really anywhere,” she said of the new season. – I think we are a bit clean.

Of her hopes for the Pogues, she wants them to get a “solid win” in the new season. “WITH [season 3] We ended up having a fun treasure hunt, which was just to help John B. and Papa’s family, and this seems like a business opportunity to me,” she noted.

“I hope they take on this new challenge with more wisdom and I’m excited to see where the relationship goes and how it has matured over these 18 months.”

Josh also teased that the upcoming season will feature several flashbacks to fill in the gaps with the 18-month time jump. “We felt we needed to move them out of the school,” Tudumu explained. “We are thinking about the first three [seasons] as a trilogy and then we start from the beginning [another sort of] trilogy now. We just needed to clear the decks. We’ll have new villains, a new treasure hunt, a new living situation.”

When is it Foreign banks filming season 4 starts?

The cast was originally slated to begin filming in the summer of 2023, but production was put on hold due to a writer’s strike and SAG strike.

In November 2023, the cast began filming the new season in Wilmington, North Carolina, moving from the series’ usual filming location in Charleston, South Carolina.

Is there an announcement for Foreign banks season 4?

In June 2023, Netflix shared a teaser trailer for the new season during the Tudum: Global Fan Event. The clip shows the Pogues in new guise as they all hop into Twinkies and get ready for their next adventure together.

Foreign banks season 4 currently does not have a release date as it was just confirmed in February 2023. However, the first three seasons are currently streaming on Netflix.

Netflix has not confirmed whether season four will be the show’s final season. Showrunners Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke previously stated that they had plans for the show to run for four or five seasons, however, they recently told EW that they are no longer sticking to that plan.

“I don’t know if I could put an actual number on it right now — how long it takes to get to that ending could be expanded, but now we know the shape of the end of the story. We’ll take it while we can, for sure,” Josh told the publication. .

Josh also teased Tudum that they already know how the series will end. “We always knew from the beginning what the final scene was going to be, if we were going to be lucky enough to make it that far,” he said, while Burke added that there’s “a lot of dark, empty space” before he gets to that final moment.
