Palace aides blast wild conspiracy theories about Princess Kate’s health branding them ‘madness of social media’

ROYAL aides last night criticized the “social media frenzy” as conspiracy theories about the Princess of Wales’s health continue to swirl around the internet.

But officials still refused to release any further information about Kate’s well-being, citing medical privacy.

The princess has not been seen since Christmas and is not expected to return to public duties until April as she recovers from abdominal surgery more than six weeks ago.

The internet and social media have been awash with rumors about her – fueled further when husband William pulled out of Tuesday’s memorial service due to a mysterious “personal matter”.

Kensington Palace insists Kate is “well” and will make a significant update before her return after Easter.

William received flowers – and toy kites for his children – as he celebrated St David’s Day in Wrexham yesterday.

He said, “And I will pass them on to Catherine. Thank you very much.”

There have been calls for the palace to be more open about Kate’s operation and William’s last-minute no-show at this week’s memorial service for former Greek King Constantine, where he was due to give a reading.

At the time, royal watchers were advised not to panic about the last-minute change of plans

Now Kensington Palace said: “We have been very clear from the outset that we will not be making ongoing comments about the health of the Princess of Wales and that we are only providing significant updates.

“Obviously we’ve seen the social media frenzy and it’s not going to change our strategy.

“There has been a lot on social media, but the princess has the right to privacy and asks the public to respect that.

“We remind you of the statement in January in which the Princess of Wales wanted her medical information to remain private.”

William has previously criticized what he called “bile” being spread on social media and took part in a four-day boycott in April 2021 to highlight abuse and discrimination.

In 2018, he accused tech companies of not doing enough to tackle fake news, privacy issues and cyberbullying — and of putting profits before the real thing.

He said at the time: “The tools we use to congratulate each other on milestones and successes can also be used to normalize speech that is filled with bile and hate.”

Kate’s long stay out of the public eye has fueled many crazy internet rumors and viral memes.

But she is known to be staying at home at Adelaide Cottage, Windsor, recuperating with her family.

On Wednesday, January 17, the palace released a statement announcing that she had “scheduled abdominal surgery.”

Associates did not disclose the nature of the procedure, but sources insist it was not cancerous.

A spokesman said at the time that Kate would be sidelined until Easter, which this year falls at the end of this month.

The palace said at the time: The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate.

“She hopes the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normalcy as possible for her children and her desire to keep her personal medical information private.”

There has been no news of her condition since then, and Wills spent his second day of engagement this week without his wife.

‘Maintain normality’

On Thursday, he apologized at the Western Marble Arch Synagogue in central London for having to postpone a visit to Kate in January due to her operation.

Yesterday he visited All Saints School in Gresford, near Wrexham, where he wore an apron and helped pupils make bara brith, Welsh tea bread.

He talked to the children, including one who was dressed as a daffodil.

William also visited the village mine and was shown a memorial to the 266 men who died in the 1934 explosion and fire, which remains one of the worst mining disasters in British history.

He held hands and spoke to 92-year-old Ruby McBurney, who was two years old when her father died in the disaster.

She spent years campaigning for the monument.

During a visit to Wrexham AFC, William was presented with a personalized shirt by Hollywood actor Rob McElhenney, co-owner of the club.
