As part of the investigation into Mahogany’s brutal murder, Birmingham police arrested as many as 7 people accused of her death. Speaking about the video which has gone viral on social media, featuring Mahogany Jackson, the prosecution described it as extremely disgusting and despicable. Jefferson County District Attorney Danny Carr asked the public not to share the video and to respect the family’s privacy during this time.
Danny Carr said: “There are aspects of this situation that I know are devastating for that family, and to see it played out again on video – it almost puts you there, and then to see people share it over and over again, and I know some people maybe they’re sharing it for fun or whatever, which is sad in itself. Birmingham police confirmed the arrest of seven suspects, including four men and three women, at a press conference held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Speaking about the charges against the suspects, Brandon Pope, 24, Jeremiah McDowell, 18, and Francis Harris, 25, were charged with first degree capital murder during kidnapping and first degree capital murder during sodomy. The remaining three suspects, Blair Green, 25, Si’nya McCall, 23, and Giovonnie Clapp, 23, were charged with first-degree aggravated murder during sodomy and first-degree kidnapping.
