Paris Hilton Reflects on ‘The Simple Life’ 15th Anniversary: ’Timeless and Iconic’
Back in 2020, Hilton told PEOPLE that she actually plays a “character” on her breakout reality show.
“I knew what I was doing, but the whole world didn’t, so it was frustrating for me to be perceived that way because I’m not at all,” she said at the time. “But it was such an amazing and fun show that I would only think of it as entertainment.” While Hilton said the “mean” jokes about her affected her in some way, she noted that she can “totally understand” why they were made in retrospect. “Obviously, I’ve grown as a person,” she explained. “I’m an adult now, but it was frustrating to be judged and have so many misconceptions based on a character I made up myself.”
“At the same time, I built a huge brand,” Hilton added. “So I really have no regrets.”
