The latest warnings cover much of the country, particularly northern England and Scotland, where snow and ice warnings are in place, with large parts of Wales also affected.
However, further south large parts of southern England and Wales are covered by a rain warning.
However, there are some early signs that things could be on the mend.
The Bureau of Meteorology’s chief meteorologist, Jason Kelly, said: “The first Atlantic air mass is moving through the south and central parts of the country for a while bringing milder conditions to many southern areas, while the cold air mass continues to linger in the north.
“Where these two air masses meet is the focus of the constant risk of ice.
“For parts of NE Scotland, wintry showers will bring some icy conditions overnight, as well as some accumulating snow inland.
“However, further south rain will become the main threat and a yellow warning for rain has been issued for Monday for parts of the South West.
“Warnings may be updated in the coming days so stay tuned to the forecast for your area.”
Conditions plunged below freezing on Sunday as amber warnings were put in place – with concerns that isolated towns could be cut off from power.
Dangerous road conditions also led to a major incident being declared as officers advised people to travel only if absolutely necessary.
Following the influx of stranded vehicles in Cumbria, the local force said: “We continue to face challenging conditions in Cumbria.
“Agencies across the county are working hard and will be working into the night in response to the impact of the heavy snowfall.
“The snow today was much heavier than forecast and the yellow warning that was put in place this afternoon is in place until midnight and with tomorrow’s yellow warning for snow and ice, we expect to continue to see challenging road conditions while these warnings are in place place.
“Therefore, we continue to ask people not to travel and to do so only if absolutely necessary.”
Scotland has been warned to expect “wintry showers, with snow on the hills [and] icy surfaces can lead to certain disruptions in traffic and infrastructure”.
A yellow weather warning for snow and ice will cover southern Scotland near Edinburgh, as far north as Stromness, from 5pm on Sunday until midday on Monday.
An ice warning is also in place for the same time period for the East Mids to Newcastle.
The Met Office is now warning of up to 60mm of rainfall in Wales and the south coast of England, near Brighton and Portsmouth, from midnight tonight until 6pm on Monday.
The UK’s Health Safety Agency and the Met Office have previously issued cold weather warnings for five regions.
Britons in the East Midlands, West Midlands, North West, North East and Yorkshire and the Humber are being warned to wrap up warm as the bad conditions are forecast to last until next week.
It comes after Glasgow Airport was forced to ground ALL flights on Saturday due to “heavier than forecast snow”.
The airport said staff had planned for freezing conditions throughout the night, but saw more snow than expected.
Nine football matches in the Scottish Professional Football League were postponed while Crewe Alexandra’s FA Cup game against Bristol Rovers was called off.
Newcastle’s high profile race also had to be abandoned.
