Parshavi Gaurav Chopra was born on Wednesday, May 10, 2006 (17 years old; as of 2023) in Sikandrabad, Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. She grew up in a family of cricket enthusiasts, her grandfather Parshuram Chopra was a district-level cricketer and her father and uncle played club cricket. In an interview, Pashavi’s uncle Ram Chopra said of his family’s love for cricket:
Our family celebrates international cricket tournaments such as festivals and most family discussions revolve around the sport. “
However, she started her sporting journey with skating before her father turned her towards cricket. She won a silver medal in the U-14 Uttar Pradesh Skating Championships. She first started playing cricket at the age of ten with neighborhood boys. Thereafter, her parents realized her passion for the game and enrolled her in a cricket academy.
She has trained at two academies: Youngstar Cricket Academy and Yuvraj Singh Center of Excellence. As of 2023, she is in 9th grade and studying at her uncle Ram Chopra’s school in her hometown.

Parshavi Chopra represents Uttar Pradesh in the country. When she first attended trials at the age of 12, she failed to make it to the Uttar Pradesh U-16 team because she was underage as per the rules. The following year, she was selected to represent UP U-16 in the Chhattisgarh tour. She was declared the best bowler in the U-16 Chhattisgarh tour. After that, she was selected for the U-19 training camp. Parshavi set a national record against Baroda where she took 3 wickets for a maiden six. In 2019, she represented the UP team in the U-19 national team competition. However, the tournament was suspended due to the Covid-19 lockdown. Her outstanding performance led to her selection into the National Cricket Academy. She participated in the BCCI U-16 One-Day Championship (2018-19) and took 17 wickets. In the following season, she played in the BCCI U-19 One Day Trophy. She took 21 wickets and was the second-highest wicket-taker in the BCCI U-19 One-Day Trophy (2019-20).
International
In the Women’s Quad U19 T20 series (2022), she played for the India A team, which ultimately defeated the India B women’s team by 7 wickets. She made her debut in the home series against New Zealand on 27 November 2022 at MCA Bandra Kurla Complex Ground, Mumbai. All five games of the series were won by Team India. Thereafter, she was included in India’s squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The team members include Shafali Verma (captain), Shweta Sehrawat (vice-captain), Richa Ghosh (goalkeeper), G Trisha, Soumya Tiwari, Sonia Mendhiya, Hrishita Basu (goalkeeper), Sonam Yadav, Mannat Kashyap, Hurley Gala, Archana Devi, Titas Sadhu, Falak Naz, Shabnam MD. The event will be held in South Africa in January 2023. During the World Cup against New Zealand, she took three wickets and restricted New Zealand to 107 runs.
She scored a brilliant four-wicket win and led India to a seven-wicket win over Sri Lanka, winning the Man of the Match award. The Indian women’s cricket team won the ICC Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup on January 29, 2023, beating England by seven wickets in the final at Sunwees Park, Potchefstrum, South Africa. Parshawi became the second highest wicket-taker in the World Cup with 11 wickets.

- Her batting style is right-handed and her bowling style is leg-break. Initially, she was a right-arm medium-pace bowler; however, she switched to leg-spin since she idolized Shane Warne.
- Parshawi revealed in an interview that she is fulfilling her father’s dream of playing for India. It was the unconditional support of her father, whom she considered her coach, that motivated her to play for India. When Pashavi begins training, her father prepares a seven-day schedule for her to follow.

- Her hobbies include listening to music, swimming, skating, playing basketball, lawn tennis, table tennis and badminton.
- Parshavi Chopra, 13, was hit above the lip while fielding in his first U-19 match for Uttar Pradesh against Assam. Although the UP coach asked her to quit if she wanted to, she stayed away from the field for some time and picked three wickets in the match. She revealed the incident to her parents only much later, fearing they might ask her to quit the sport.
