Passenger Sparks Outrage After She’s Caught Using Neon Flashing Charger During Red-Eye Flight: ‘Who Does This’

A passenger on a six-hour flight from Miami to Seattle was filmed using a glowing cable on the plane to charge her phone – and her fellow fliers weren’t amused.

Another passenger sitting in the same row as the woman took to Reddit to share the video of the scene and asked users, “Who’s doing this?” on a red-eye flight. In the clip, the phone’s charging cable flickers between vivid neon green, blue and pink colors and can be seen bouncing off nearby passenger tray tables.

In the description of the video, the passenger who recorded the video writes: “Out of the 6 hours of the flight, for more than 4 hours the cable was glowing while the screen of the owner’s mobile device was set to the highest level of brightness. Other passengers looked around to make eye contact like, “Do you see this??”

An outraged passenger, the stranger refused to switch seats with her after her own husband refused to do the same

Users in the thread agreed that the woman was inconsiderate when using the charger, especially if other passengers wanted to get some shut-eye during a night flight. Others mentioned the fact that some passengers might have health problems that could be caused by the flashing lights.

“My blood boils because of you,” one user wrote. Another added: “Why would anyone own that? Seriously.”

Others said they were “surprised the flight attendant didn’t say anything” at any point during the trip.

“Totally agree,” someone commented. “An equally big problem with this woman, but also with the crew. If she didn’t have common sense, the team should have approached her. If nothing else, she could have at least tried to cover up the wire.”

The conversation continued when the original poster (OP) said that the best option was to offer the woman a traditional non-illuminated charger that she could borrow. Others seemed to have a better idea.

“That would be the optimal solution,” one user replied. “Personally, a quick cut with scissors would be the funniest. But if you have another cable, that’s probably a more diplomatic solution.”
