Pat Sajak Hilariously Loses Control After Wheel of Fortune Contestants Celebrate Incorrect Answer: ‘No, No, No!’

During the episode that aired on Monday, May 27, the longtime game show host tried — and failed — to get the competition back on track after one contestant guessed the wrong answer, prompting the other contestants to mistakenly congratulate him.

As seen in a video shared on YouTube, the moment occurred during the toss of the puzzle, when the letters “_ _ N ‘ _ LO _ K AW _ _!” appeared on the board. After a failed attempt by contestant Cynthia King, Rufus Cumberlander stepped in to guess.

“Don’t look away!” he shouted.

As his fellow contestants, King and Luigi Altidore, turned to congratulate him, Sajak, 77, could be heard repeating: “No, no, no! Not correct!”

However, as the contestants finally realized what he was saying, the puzzle buzzer sounded to signal that time was up, prompting shocked reactions from all three contestants. The audience could also be heard gasping in surprise during the end of the puzzle.

“Everyone congratulates everyone… And we keep the money!” Sajak said enthusiastically with a wide smile, raising his hand in the air.

The mistake prompted several comments from fans, including one who jokingly replied: “It was at this point… they [realized] they really messed up. ROYAL. On national TV. And… it went viral.” Another wrote: “It’s hilarious because everyone looked away celebrating lmao.”

Others noted that they probably wouldn’t have guessed right either, with one person commenting, “I got the answer wrong too, so I can’t really blame them.”

This was not the only mistake on Wheel of Fortune which went viral. During the previous week, a contestant hilariously threw out a NSFW guess in response to a puzzle with the missing letters “_ _ _ _ I_ T_E B_ _T!”

“Right in the butt?” a competitor named Tavaris guessed. While the audience and his colleagues laughed, Sajak simply answered: “No”.

After another constant revealed that the correct answer was, “This is the best!”, Sajak replied, “Yeah, that’s it, I think! Much better answer.” He then added, “How are you Tavaris? You’ve already made an impression on us.”

The episodes come as Sajak nears the end of his time on the show after more than 40 years of hosting. It was announced that he is set to say goodbye during the Season 41 finale on June 7, according to TVLine.

The episode will be aptly titled “Thanks for the Memories,” according to Rotten Tomatoes, and will air a year after Sajak announced his departure. Ryan Seacrest is set to take over as host Wheel of Fortune next season.
