Patrick Mahomes Shares a ‘Family Favorite’ Chili Recipe

Cold Kansas City nights get warmer in the Mahomes household with this turkey chili.

Patrick Mahomes and other Kansas City Chiefs players share recipes in the new Kingdom Cookbook. The digital cookbook is available only on the Chiefs mobile app — and also includes Travis Kelce’s favorite magical marshmallow rolls courtesy of his mom, Donna Kelce.

Patrick, who has two children with wife Brittany Mahomes, chose the green turkey chili, originally made by their private chef. “This recipe has become a staple of the Mahomes family that they make often,” the cookbook reads.

It’s a hearty soup with dark meat ground turkey, sweet potatoes and more. Poblano peppers are charred before being added to a blender with cilantro, enchilada sauce, green chiles, chicken stock, corn and cannellini beans.

After it has been pureed, creating a soupy liquid, the turkey is braised separately from the onions, garlic and potatoes, which are also cooked in the stock. Then everything is combined with sazon and spices for meat, more corn and beans.

Suggested toppings include cheese, avocado sour cream and more cilantro.

Patrick and Brittany are parents to daughter Sterling Skye, 2, and son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon, 13 months.

The Kingdom Cookbook edition celebrates the NFL playoff season as the Chiefs prepare to take on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

The team also released a Hallmark movie special called Falling for Football in honor of the “holiday.” It features several Chief personalities like Mitch Holthus and Donna, as well as actors Tyler Hynes and Sweet little liars star Janel Parrish.

Hynes and Parrish play a couple whose love is put to the test by football.

“You know,” says Donna in her acting debut, “the heart can be in two places at once.”
