Paul Mescal defies gravity!
The actor, 28, did his thing Saturday night live made his debut on December 7, when he hosted a late-night comedy sketch series with Shaboozey as the musical guest.
In one sketch, Mescal was recently released Gladiator II it was reimagined as a musical after its success Wicked and Moana 2.
Reprising his role as Lucius Verus Aurelius, Mescal showed off his singing skills, as he declared throughout the parody song: “There’s no place like Rome.”
At the end of the skit, Mescal is seen flying out of the Coliseum on a broomstick wearing a witch’s hat, while performing his own version of Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba riff from Wickedthe iconic number “Defying Gravity”.

Elsewhere during the episode, Mescal starred in a number of other skits, including one where he played a student who surprises his parents with a new earring and another where he stars in a commercial for an Italian restaurant.
He also acted in another sketch in which he played a stripper pirate in a club that organized a bachelorette party.

For his first music performance, Shaboozey, 29, performed “Good News,” which was released on November 15.
He then sang his song “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” during the second set. The song recently tied Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” as the longest-running number one song of all time in the US Billboard Top 100 with 19 weeks at number one.

SNL announced the cast for its landmark 50th season earlier this year.
Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim and Jane Wickline have been added to the sketch comedy roster, while Punkie Johnson, Chloe Troast and Molly Kearney have stepped down. Returning cast members Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker, meanwhile, have been promoted to lead actors after two years each as standout players.
Michael Che, Colin Jost, James Austin Johnson, Bowen Yang, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Sarah Sherman and Kenan Thompson round out the rest of the cast.
The next host SNL is Chris Rock with musical guest Gracie Abrams on December 14th and Martin Short with musical guest Hozier on December 21st.
Saturday night live airs weekends on NBC.
