Paula Abdul has been forced to cancel her upcoming Canadian tour.
In a post on her Instagram on Wednesday, September 4, Abdul, 62, said she had to undergo a “minor procedure” to treat some “recently sustained” injuries, and the recovery time will mean she won’t be able to start touring later this month.
“It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I have to share with you some news about some injuries I have recently sustained. In an effort to move on, I have received targeted injections to provide temporary relief, but the demands of a full tour are another story,” her post began.
“After multiple consultations with my doctors and exploring all available options, I have been advised that one of my injuries requires minor surgery followed by a 6-8 week recovery period, therefore I will be prohibited from continuing with Straight Up! on the Canadian tour as well as dates in Alaska and North Dakota.”
Sharing her “deepest apologies” to her fans in Canada and the US, Abdul said the news “truly breaks my heart”.

“I was looking forward to the energy, love and connection we always share when we’re together,” she continued. “I promise I’ll be back, stronger and better, dancing my heart out and performing for you all very soon, to give you the show you deserve.”
“Refunds will be available at the point of purchase,” the singer and dancer added, before concluding her post, “Thank you for your love, patience and understanding during this time. With all my love and gratitude, XoP ♥️💋🇨🇦 🇺🇸.”
