In 2009, Pavitra applied online to audition for the popular reality TV show Roadies. She did not get a call from Roadies, but from another MTV reality show Splitsvilla. She became a finalist for Splitsvilla and was invited to Mumbai to participate in the show. She agreed and became one of the finalists of the show. She then participated in the reality TV show MTV Making The Cut 2 (2010) as a contestant.

In 2010, she made a cameo appearance in the Star One television serial Geet– Hui Sabse Parayi, playing the role of Dalljiet. In 2011, she participated as a contestant in the television reality show Jeele Yeh Pal. She rose to fame when she starred opposite Bigg Boss 13 winner Siddharth Shukla in the Star Plus serial Love u Zindagi (2011).
She later acted in the television series Sawaare Sabke Sapne Preeto (2011), Honge Judaa Naa Hum (2012), Yeh Hai Mohabbatein (2016), Kavach… Kaali Shaktiyon Se (2016), Naagin 3 (2018), Baalveer Returns (2019) and Aladdin – Naam Toh Suna Hoga (2020). My past is not so controversial. There is only one ‘rotten incident’ in my life and if he had any self-respect and sense left, he would not have entered the Bigg Boss 14 house before me and even if he did, he should not have pissed me off or he would have faced dire consequences.”
Paras responded to her comments and said,
“Pavitra is right, Paras was her mistake as married women cannot date and cheated on me. I was shocked when her husband messaged me saying you can be together as much as you want but I got to know about it only after I divorced her. I confronted her and she agreed and then I got to know one shocking truth after another about her. I don’t want to speak now. I may be hotheaded now but time will tell and it will be revealed during her tenure at BB. If I speak, things may go wrong for her and it won’t be good. She hid her marriage from me.”
