Penélope Cruz glowed in Chanel at the 14th annual Governors Awards on Tuesday.
The ambassador for the French fashion house wore a show-stopping Chanel gown to an event honoring Mel Brooks, Angela Bassett and editor Carol Littleton for their career contributions to the film industry.
Cruz, 49, wore a three-tiered white dress where each layer rose, mimicking the look of a full ball gown. The bodice of the dress consisted of a corset with a white and gray patterned floral pattern. Gold buttons with the Chanel logo are placed on the corset and the corresponding cream straps and belt, which are made of recognizable Chanel tweed.

Cruz had a big year in 2023 thanks to her role in the Michael Mann film Ferrari, in which she played Laura Ferrari, the wife of a famous car manufacturer. The actress made the rounds as the awards ceremony began, and she attended at the beginning of this month Diversity‘s Creative Impact Awards and 10 Directors to Watch brunch, where she was presented with the award by Sean Penn.

“I’ve seen Penélope in movies in English, Spanish and Italian. I speak reasonable English, minimal Spanish, no Italian at all. And yet… I don’t remember once looking at the subtitles,” Penn said.
He continued: “I also remember understanding every word she ever said on screen… it kind of reminds me of the thing about Penélope, because when she wants us to understand, we do, [and when] she wants us to feel, we feel because she lets us,”
When Cruz took to the podium, she said how much she enjoyed playing Laura Ferrari in Mann’s film.
“[She] represents so many women out there, not only in the Ferrari era, but in so many places around the world then and now with women living in the shadow of men, constantly being ignored and suppressed,” she said.
