Pete Davidson Sings 'I'm Just Pete' in Parody of Ken Song From Barbie on Saturday Night Live

The comedian and host played his own version of Ken in a hilarious sketch during the 49th season premiere of SNL

Pete Davidson is channeling his inner Ken!

The comedian (29) dressed up as his own version of Ken Saturday night live on Saturday while singing a parody version of the song “I’m Just Ken” sung by Ryan Gosling in the Barbie movie. Davidson’s version was called “I’m Just Pete”.

The hilarious skit began with Davidson, who hosted the Season 49 premiere, overhearing his SNL Costars Andrew Dismukes and Punkie Johnson make fun of him in the office.

“Yeah, why is he the host?” Dismukes said. “He just left and it’s not like his show was a hit,” he added, referring to Davidson’s show Bupkis. “Okay, like how do you get Joe Pesci and Edie Falco and no audience?” Johnson said as the pair laughed.

The next scene showed Davidson transformed into a shirtless Ken — or ‘Pete’ — complete with a blonde wig, as he sat on a pink couch in Barbie’s home from the film. “Nobody cares about the work I do, I did a show with Joe Pesci and nobody streamed it but my mom,” he sang, followed by, “When I’m high I do things like call Colin Jost, and say ‘home , we should buy a boat’. They tell me I have stupid eyes, but I never sleep alone at night.”

Davidson then appeared fully clothed as he was joined by female dancers in the background SNL version of Barbieland. “I’m just Pete, anybody else I’d be a three, but I guess I’m warm to guys in comedy, because it’s an ugly industry,” he recited the chorus.

“I’m just Pete, I look like meth on the street, people on the internet still call me Skete because of a guy whose name I can’t legally pronounce,” Davidson sang. A picture of Kanye West then flashed on the screen. The rapper, 46, famously portrayed a clay version of Davidson — who was dating Kim Kardashian at the time — who was kidnapped, bound and buried in a music video in 2022 and dubbed him “Skete” online.

Davidson then appeared with a group of other ‘Petes’, played by some of them SNL cast, while posing on Barbieland beach. “Pete’s Rally!” he shouted. Individual shots of the ‘Petes’ were then shown alongside their on-screen names in the video and included “Met Gala Pete” (played by Bowen Yang) and “Black Pete” (Devin Walker).

“Black Pete? Then it’s just Black Pete?” Walker said, not at all impressed. “Alrighty then.”

Elsewhere in the sketch, Davidson mentioned his rehab this year in song. “And out of the blue, three times a year when you least expect it… I go to rehab,” he sang while sitting in a Barbie pink rehab office.

The host was next seen dressed in all black in a blue studio with backup dancers as they recreated a version of Ken’s iconic dance routine from the Barbie movie as, among other things, Davidson sang about “energy”, including “BD Energy” as on screen the words ‘BDE’ appeared.

The next scene went pink again as it featured Davidson in SNL’s version of Barbieland for the last time. “I’m just Pete, my love life is not discreet. I create a lot of publicity for everyone, accept my comedy”, he sang.

“My name is Pete and I’ve deleted all my online accounts because the doctor said the internet wasn’t good for me,” Davidson continued. “Honey, I’m Pete!” he added, closing the song.

The final scene showed Davidson sitting in a pink car with SNL member Chloe Fineman, who was dressed as Barbie. “Are you ready, Pete?” she asked him. “Of course I’m Barbie!” Davidson replied before hitting the gas. The final footage showed the pair crashing into Barb’s home.

The comedian was involved in a car accident in March, police confirmed to PEOPLE at the time, and was subsequently ordered to serve 50 hours of community service after being charged with one misdemeanor count of reckless driving in June. The skit’s final moments seemed to hint at an incident earlier in the year.

“Oh, not again!” Davidson could be heard speaking as car horns blared.
