Biography of Phil Nevin
Phil Nevin was born into a family of athletes, his father and grandfather both playing football at the university level. He attended El Dorado High School in Placentia, California, where he played baseball, football and basketball. In 1992, he was selected first overall by the Houston Astros in the MLB draft.
Nevin made his MLB debut in 1995 with the Astros and went on to play for several other teams during his career, including the Detroit Tigers, San Diego Padres, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Angels. He was known for his versatility, playing several different positions throughout his career, including third base, first base, and the outfield.
