Phillip Schofield recently made headlines after leaving This Morning following persistent reports that he and co-star Holly Willoughby were not getting along. Although the reaction to his departure from the show has been at best silent, with Holly releasing a statement and ITV sharing a brief tribute to him, some of his co-stars and former cast members. He stood up to defend the TV presenter.
Call the Midwoman director Nick Harris wrote: “I’m sad. I directed Phillip Schofield many times in This Morning. He is one of the best presenters I have ever worked with, always entertaining and extremely professional. I have nothing bad to say about him. The secret that I read this week is not my experience.”

Antiques expert Tracy Martin replied to Nick, adding: “I agree. I have worked with Phil many times at TM and he has always been friendly, supportive and a pleasure to work with. I wrote the same thing as you on my FB page.
Reporter Olly Man also tweeted, explaining: “Re: #PhillipSchofield and hinting that his ITV colleagues are ‘celebrating’, ‘relieved’ etc that he has resigned. I won’t know. But, to balance the scary: when I worked on This Morning (from 2002 to 2006), he was always professional, polite and excellent at his job.”

Clodagh McKenna, the show’s cooking showrunner, shared a snap of herself with Phil, writing: “21 years of brightening our mornings…. And I’m so happy to be joining 3 of them I’ll miss your morning hug, the sparkle in your eyes that made me giggle, and your sympathy. I’ll miss you.”
Viewers also shared their thoughts on Phillip, with one replying to Olly: “It’s sad he’s been hunted. I can’t imagine how he’s feeling right now.” Writer Jaci Stephen added: “I feel sad. One of the best and best people I have ever worked with. Definitely @itv’s hole. But @thismorning has been quiet for a while.”

Phil confirmed he’s leaving This Morning after 20 years in a statement that read: “I’ve always been proud to tell compelling stories on This Morning. But recently this morning itself became a story. Throughout my television career – including the last very difficult days – I have always tried my best to be respectable and kind.

“I understand that ITV has decided that the current situation cannot continue and I want to do what I can to protect the programming I love. Holly’s response to the news read: “Hi everyone… It’s been over 13 wonderful years recommending This Morning with Phil and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank him for all his knowledge. , his experience and humour. The sofa wouldn’t feel the same without it.”
