Pierce Brosnan Says Marriage with Wife Keely Is a ‘Very Spiritual Journey’: ‘We Love Each Other a Lot’

Pierce Brosnan reveals the secret of his 22-year marriage to wife Keely Shaye Brosnan.

The Fast Charlie star, 70, said the couple – who married in 2001 – have kept their romantic spark alive all these years, through good times and bad.

“We love each other very much. We love each other very much,” Pierce told Fox News. “We’ve been on that journey and we’ve seen many, many hardships as a family, as we all do.”

“But watching someone grow with you and grow old with you is a very spiritual journey,” he continued of Keely, whom he first met in 1994. “Watching each other change … whatever it is, hair, waistline. But it’s love in the heart.”

The actor praised his wife for always being his “supportive” partner as he built a successful Hollywood career that often saw him filming away from home.

“She lets me go out into the wild blue out there and do what I do as a man, as an actor, [she] always has,” he told the magazine, crediting her for being a loving mother to their two sons, Dylan, 26, and Paris, 22.

“Keely is a journalist, a reporter. She is an artist in her own right. And as a woman, she created a family for our sons,” he said.

Keely was also instrumental in encouraging Pierce to tap into his hidden passion for art. Last week, the Golden Globe candidate launched his first solo exhibition as a painter, the so-called So many dreams, at Art Basel Miami. In an Instagram post celebrating the moment, he paid tribute to Keely, who co-curated the exhibition, writing: “You did it my love.”

“At this point in our life with art, it’s exciting,” Pierce told Fox News. “I’ve always been a painter, an artist at heart. So it’s a work in progress, just like acting. You just … keep showing up, improving and improving the work and the message you want to convey to the people.”

Last year, Keely revealed to PEOPLE what she loves most about Pierce as the pair walked the red carpet at the premiere of his film in New York Black Adam.

“His heart,” she said. “He has a big heart, a generous, warm, good heart.”

In a touching tribute to Keely on her 60th birthday in September, Outside the law the star nodded to the moment he met his wife.

“Sixty roses for my brown-eyed girlfriend on her 60th birthday,” Pierce captioned his Instagram post, which included a photo of the couple posing with a lavish rose arrangement he gave her for the occasion.

“I was forever happy and blessed to be sitting there when you came around the corner in Cabo San Lucas early this morning @keelyshayebrosnan,” he added.
