Pink Denies Flying Israeli Flags at Her Concerts Following Hamas Attacks: ‘I Am Human. I Believe in Peace’

Pink has denied wearing Israeli flags at her concerts and says her live performance was “mistakenly” drawn into the conversation surrounding the war between Israel and Hamas.

Pop star, 44, posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday night to deny the claims in what she says is a “controversial” post.

“This post will be controversial for some. Right now, breathing is controversial. I get a lot of threats because people mistakenly believe that I wear Israeli flags in my show. I’m not,” the “Never Gonna Not Dance Again” singer wrote on the social media platform.

She continued: “I’ve been using Poi flags since the start of this tour. They were used many, many years ago by the Māori people in New Zealand and because they and the Māori people are beautiful to me, we use them. I’m not going to fly the flags in my show in support of either to anything or anyone but the rainbow flag. That will remain my position.

“I am human. I believe in peace. Equality. Love. I am deeply saddened by the state of the world. I pray for all of you,” she concluded.

According to Stuff New Zealand, Pink’s dancers waving blue and white “poi” flags on long poles mirror YouTube videos of “flag poi twirling,” where people wave colorful cloth tied to poles.

P!nk’s latest social media post is about a specific leg of her summer carnival tour, which runs from June to Boardwhich was months before Hamas attacked Israel in a terrorist attack that killed more than 1,300 people, including 260 music festival-goers, according to the AP.

The Summer Carnival tour kicked off in Europe in early June and arrived in North America on July 28th. In August, Pink hit a milestone tour in Milwaukee, becoming the first woman to headline a stadium in the country.

“It means the world to me. I never miss it. We’re not cool kids, thank God. We are just brave, magnificent people, doing our best,” Pink wrote at the time in a statement on Instagram. “Thanks for letting me in.”

Meanwhile, Pink opened up to PEOPLE in an interview in February about her life as a rock star mom.

“When I had kids, people said, ‘Your career is going to be over. How are you going to tour?’ ” said the hitmaker, who is the mother of daughter Willow Saga (12) and son Jameson Moon (6) with her husband Carey Hart.

She added: “I didn’t know I’d have a family. I didn’t imagine it because I was terrified I’d be a terrible mother. But oh my god, being a mum is the most amazing thing I’ve ever been shocking how I became responsible.”
