Reverend Canon Paul Williams used the traditional stocking stuffer in his sermon.
Asked if anyone knew how to separate the segments, he said, “You have to touch it and unroll it.”
Listening over loudspeakers, hundreds of well-wishers gathered outside St Mary Magdalene Church heard him tell Louis: “Just drop it” – followed by a loud bang as the treat hit the floor.
Before that, when the priest asked if the children in the church had received candy for Christmas, Louis was heard to happily reply, “Marshmallows.”

Louis was later seen holding a choccy orange, a Cadbury’s Selection Box and a chocolate Santa.
The crowd is believed to be the biggest for years, with many fans saying they wanted to show their support for the King and Princess of Wales as they battle cancer.
Kate, 42, received a dozen bouquets and had to enlist the help of aides to carry her goods back to Sandringham.
She was also presented with several Get Well Soon cards and was seen laughing with the children and their parents.
