The singer – whose full name is Danielle Fonseca Machado – underwent surgery on Friday.

It is learned that she went for liposuction of the abdomen and back, as well as breast reduction.

During the procedure in Pinhais, Brazil, she experienced a complication and had to be rushed to a hospital in nearby Curitiba.

Her husband, Marcelo Mira, told local media on Thursday: “Her body will arrive in Macapa tomorrow.

“We are very shaken by all this.

“The burial will be on Saturday.”

She became famous in Brazil after her hit ‘Eu sou da Amazônia’ (I’m from the Amazon).

She was born in Afuá in the Amazon jungle and started singing when she was five years old.

After participating in talent shows in her hometown, at the age of 17 she moved to Macapa – about four hours away by boat.

There she founded brega – a Brazilian genre of pop music – the group ‘Banda Sensação’.

In 2008, she met the poet Osmar Júnior, who became her producer and gave her a hit that made her a star.

Her last song was released just two months ago.

The exact cause of the complication has not yet been determined.
