Porsha Williams Guobadia Will Return to The Real Housewives of Atlanta for Season 16

Bravo announced Tuesday that the fan favorite, who previously left the show in 2021, is returning for Season 16. Williams Guobadia, 42, also signed a comprehensive talent deal with NBCUniversal to partner on “scripted project opportunities across the company’s broadcast and streaming properties.” .”

She made her announcement on Instagram on Tuesday.

“Who said that?” she asked, echoing a famous saying from her former colleague Kandi Burruss. “Porsha Williams is coming back The Real Housewives of Atlanta? That is false. But Porsha Guobadia is in the building. Haha, see you, mwah!”

Departure of Williams Guobadia from RHO it came a few months after news broke that she was engaged to current husband Simon Guobadio, whom she met on the set of the franchise’s 13th season through his then-wife Falynn Pina, a regular guest on the show introduced to viewers as a “friend” of Williams Guobadia.

Guobadia and Pina were separated when he and Williams Guobadia started dating, though fans didn’t know that when the two went public with their romance shortly after season 13 ended. Rumors circulated and Williams’ announcement that he was leaving RHO leading some to question her reasons for leaving.

“I wasn’t running away,” the Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip the alum told PEOPLE in March 2023. “And I don’t think any of my followers who really knew me would believe that I would walk off the show because of that.”

RHO cameras captured Williams Guobadia through many ups and downs in her personal life. She was married to former football star Kordell Stewart when she first joined the show in Season 5 – but soon after found out via a social media post that he was divorcing her. Her engagement to ex-fiancé Dennis McKinley fell apart when he cheated on her, and although they had a child together – 4-year-old daughter Pilar Jhena McKinley – the birth led to a battle with postpartum depression.

“I faced a lot of rough stuff on the show,” Williams Guobadia told PEOPLE. “And I’ve been there at the beginning of every season to shoot, with the camera on. So no, this has nothing to do with that.”

At the time, Williams Guobadia said she had made the decision to leave RHO for the season 14 months earlier.

“I had already decided it was time to retire at least six months before I told any of the executives what I intended to do — and long before I even met my now-husband,” she says. “I was turning 40, I was coming up on my 10-year anniversary on the show, and I really just had to reevaluate where I was and what I wanted out of my life. And that’s where that decision came from.”
