Fatherhood has changed Post Malone’s life “in the best way ever.”

The “Circles” rapper welcomed a daughter with his fiancee in May 2022 — just weeks after Malone told PEOPLE they were expecting.

The Grammy winner didn’t share an official announcement about his daughter’s birth, instead dropping the happy news of his baby’s arrival in a June 2022 interview with Howard Stern.

A few months later, during an interview with GQA Crocs associate opened up about the challenges of balancing life on the road and fatherhood.

“It’s really hard that I can’t see her, but now she goes out more often,” he told the newspaper. “I’m just happy to see her. But it’s heartbreaking to leave and not be able to be with her all the time.”

In the August 2023 episode of The Call her dad podcast, host Alex Cooper asked Malone what he fears most in life. “I guess I can’t be with my kid, which is a new fear,” the rapper said. – That’s why I tried to slow down with drinking, in order to take better care of my body.

She is a spring baby

Although Malone has not revealed his daughter’s name or exact date of birth, PEOPLE has confirmed that the rapper and his fiancee welcomed their first child in May 2022.

According to TMZ, sources close to the rapper shared that the parents-to-be held a private party for family and friends in Southern California during the last weekend of April 2022 to celebrate their soon-to-be-born daughter.

Malone — who was born in Syracuse, New York and raised in Grapevine, Texas — lived in Los Angeles from the age of 18 until he moved to a mountain home outside Salt Lake City, Utah in 2019. His father, Rich Post, who lives nearby, said Billboard in January 2022 that the move “was a huge sigh of relief for the parental figures.” The rapper is still often in LA for work.

Malone has kept her mother anonymous

Malone has never publicly identified his fiancée or posted about their relationship on social media. For the first time, he called his longtime girlfriend his fiancee in June 2022 The Howard Stern Show.

A year later, during an interview at Call her dad podcast, Malone shared the couple’s engagement story.

“It was inside [Las] Vegas,” he told Alex Cooper. “I lost a significant amount of money at the table. We go upstairs and I get off the seesaw and I’m like, ‘Hey, will you marry me?’ I have a ring and all that stuff. And she said ‘no’. She said, ‘Ask me tomorrow,’ and I said, ‘Okay.’ And then I did, I was sober and it was nice.”

The “Better Now” singer added that he just knew she was “the one” for him.

“I could tell … her heart is so big,” he said. “I always wanted kids and a big family. And I could tell she was going to be a really good mom. And she’s like the #1 mom in the freaking universe.”

Malone had her initials tattooed on his face

Although her full name has not yet been revealed, Malone revealed his daughter’s initials: DDP. He has tattooed three letters on his forehead above “Stay Away”, on the right side of his face.

The ink was created in October 2022 by tattoo artist Chad Rowe. He shared a photo of the rapper’s new tattoo on Instagram, noting “the confidence of those [an] an important tattoo is a great honor.”

She is on her way to becoming a fan of Post Malone’s music

Malone is still trying to figure out if his young daughter is a fan of his music, but as he said GQso far so good.

“I can’t say yet. So far she hasn’t cried whenever I play my music, which I think is a good sign, but we’ll wait and find out. I have to let her decide,” he said. “I tried to play her some stuff, but I can’t tell exactly what she’s up to right now.”

“I think she’ll have to like my music, [or] she’ll get used to it – I know everyone in the house plays it and I hope it gets stuck in her head,” he continued. “The kids love my music for some reason, which is great, so I just hope she keeps it going with that.”

He admitted that she might hate his music just because it was her father’s. “… She will say: “Dad, you are bad. Just leave.”

She influenced Malone’s clothing collection

In 2022, Malone collaborated with Moose Knuckles on a gender-neutral capsule collection of sherpa and camouflage that includes children’s styles.

“I thought it would be fun for parents and their kids to be able to match up — and, I guess, kids in general to be decked out,” he told GQ. “I recently had a little girl, she’s four months old. I’m trying to find a size for her – she’s a little too small, but she’ll grow. I just thought it was fun to do, especially with a baby on the way when we were working on it. ”

His daughter may be too tiny for Moose Knuckles right now, but the “Congratulations” rapper believes it’s never too early to don some camouflage.

“She’s so pumped up. We’ve got her jumpsuit, Realtree camouflage, everything, some nice hoodies, some zip-ups,” he told the outlet. “She’s so cool. She’s way cooler than me, but she definitely took some inspiration from me.”

Malone sings her lullabies

The “Sunflower” rapper’s music has been covered by many other artists, and the songs have also been translated into Kidz Bop versions and lullabies. He plays the latter to his daughter — sometimes forgetting to listen to his own songs!

“I like to play her lullabies,” Malone said GQ of playing music for his daughter. “They make lullabies out of my songs. They’re fun to listen to. Sometimes we even play them and I’ll have to guess what song it is and I just forget all the melodies. I’m like, ‘What song is this?’ ”

She inspired Malone to be healthier

Since becoming a father, Malone has focused on a healthier lifestyle.

In April 2023, he posted a photo of himself lounging in bed while on tour in Antwerp, Belgium. In the caption, he asked questions about his weight loss. “I guess life worked out for dad and I decided to quit the sodas and start eating better so I could be with this little angel for a long time,” he wrote. “Next up is smoke and beer, but I like to think of myself as a patient man…lol!”

“I’m the happiest I’ve been in a long time,” he added.

A few months later, Malone told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe that he had been partying less since his daughter was born.

“Having a kid really put a lot of things into perspective and really slowed me down a lot, as far as partying and going out and going crazy,” the rapper said, before adding that alcohol is still a “very big” weakness of his.

Malone keeps her out of the spotlight

The “Rockstar” singer is very protective of his daughter’s privacy.

“I feel like a lot of people have the right to know every detail of everyone’s life and that’s why I don’t want to post pictures of my baby. I want her to be able to make that decision whenever she wants to and be ready,” he told CR Fashion Book in September 2023 .
