PRIMARK is plastering customers’ bags with giant “sold” stickers to stop shoplifters.
Thieves stole stock by taking the chain’s paper bags into stores, filling them and simply walking out.

Now blue stickers, which include his logo and the word “Sold” in different languages, are placed on bag handles at checkout.
This means customers have to break the seals to access their purchased equipment – making the bags much more difficult to reuse.
All customers without stickers are stopped at the door.
A worker at a branch in south-east London who was trialling the stickers said: “Thieves would put anything that didn’t have a label on it and they wouldn’t set off the alarm.
“They were able to blend in with the customers because you can only get the bags at the checkout. It was very difficult for the security guards to spot.”
Last year, 1,000 incidents of theft were reported a day across all stores in England and Wales, and Primark boss George Weston said the problem should be taken more seriously.
Primark said: “Anti-social behavior and crime are on the rise and we are working with retailers and organizations to help tackle this.
“We are also now trialling new measures to prevent stock being lost, which includes sealing bags with ‘Sold’ stickers after a customer has paid for their items at the till.”
“We will keep an eye on this and monitor the impact of these new measures.”
How to save money at Primark
PRIMARK is the most favorable customer, but there are several ways to save on spending.
Secret sale
Primark fans always know how to dive into the action if they’re looking for bargains in store, but there could be “secret” sale items lurking around the rest of the store all year round.
Larger flagship stores in particular will always have an influx of stock, so as new items arrive, older products taking up space can be significantly discounted.
Ask for discounts
Don’t be afraid to ask for discounts directly. The worst the staff can say is no.
Usually, if you pick up an item with a flaw or an underlying tag or the like, you can simply ask for a discount – just explain that it’s not exactly for zero.
Former Primark employees have revealed to The Sun in the past that it can be fairly standard practice for branches to offer a 10% discount on a damaged or faulty item.
Look for scams
Primark’s bargain clothing is a cheap way to refresh your wardrobe with a host of items from its exclusive range.
But the store can be a great place to look for a cheaper version of something you’ve seen elsewhere.
Fans have spotted plenty of items from sellers that look remarkably similar to other more expensive products on the market.
Get a cheaper dupe and your friends might not be able to tell the difference.
Web trick
Primark launched a new website in April 2022, allowing customers to check stock levels in their local stores for the first time.
This means you can browse online and make sure you head to a branch that has the style and size you need.
Now thousands more products are displayed on his website, so you can get a better look at the current collections.
Just last month, Primark revealed its plans to open new branches and invest in and renovate more than a dozen of its existing stores.
The plans are part of a new £75m investment in the UK store.
Primark previously revealed that the new stores will appear in Bury St. Edmund, Teesside Park and Glasgow Fort, and their opening dates have finally been confirmed.
The retailer also continued to roll out self-service checkouts in a number of stores to reduce queue times.
They were first rolled out at sites in Sheffield, Northampton, West Bromwich and Kingston as part of a trial.
We tried out Primark’s new self-service tills – shoppers will love them, but if you don’t take the receipt, you could find yourself stranded.
