Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis Return to Lambrook! All About Their School Life

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s three children are back at school, returning to Lambrook where they started last year after the family moved to Windsor

Kate Middleton and Prince William’s three children returned to the classroom on Wednesday, returning to their second year at Lambrook School in Berkshire. The change of school comes after the family moved from London to Windsor last summer – which meant George, 10, Charlotte, 8, and Louis, 5, will go to the same school for the first time. (While Prince George and Princess Charlotte were together at Thomas’s Battersea in London, Prince Louis was still attending nursery school before the move.)

Although it is known as one of the best preparatory schools in the UK, Lambrook goes far beyond the traditional academic curriculum. The school offers impressive drama and music facilities as well as something that is likely to be of particular interest to the Prince and Princess of Wales family: sports!

According to Lambrook’s website, “our facilities are second to none and include all-weather cricket, football, basketball and hockey pitches, a well-equipped sports hall, a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, squash and tennis courts, a dance studio, a golf course with nine holes and cricket grounds of unsurpassed quality.”

Princess Kate, who supports England as patron of the Rugby Football League and the Rugby Football Union, previously revealed that both Prince George and Princess Charlotte play rugby, noting that her eldest child is tall so “he’s got the stature”. The Princess of Wales also said Prince Louis was “crazy” about the sport.

Prince William described his daughter as a “rising star” in soccer, but Princess Charlotte revealed her favorite sport is actually gymnastics as she attended the 2022 Commonwealth Games with her parents.

Inside the classroom, lessons last 35 minutes, and students are mixed by ability level, not age. The curriculum includes English, Mathematics, French, Science, Latin, Greek, History, Geography, Art, Drama, Music and Physical Education.

In addition to core subjects, courses are available in filmmaking, animation, cooking, and a $7 million design and technology building that houses an art studio, science labs, and computer suites.

And learning goes beyond the classroom at Lambrook — literally. With a strong focus on outdoor learning, Prince Louis could be building a den and frolicking in mud puddles one day and collecting chicken eggs the next. The school also has bee hives – something Kate, who keeps beekeepers at the family home Anmer Hall on the Sandringham estate and produces her own honey, might be particularly interested in asking her children when they get home from the school day.

Lambrook School goes to Year 13 and its graduates go on to impressive schools. Earlier this year, Prince George was spotted at Eton College with his parents, suggesting he may be following in Prince William’s footsteps at an all-boys boarding school. (Although Eton College students are aged between 13 and 18, they must be registered before 30 June of the school year in which the boy turns 10.)

When Prince William enrolled at Eton in 1995, he became the first member of the royal family to attend the school. While his father King Charles and grandfather Prince Philip went to Gordonstoun in Scotland, William had alumni in the family – both Princess Diana’s brother and father attended Eton.

Princess Kate and Princess William’s children have starred in portraits on the first day of school in past years, but it doesn’t happen every year. That’s because the Prince and Princess of Wales, both 41, treat the school as a private area so their children can grow in a pressure-free atmosphere.

Instead, pictures were only released for special milestones, like first days at new schools. Last year marked such an occasion, when Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince George were photographed wearing the same uniforms for a promotion day for new students with their parents.

When classes started the next day, Queen Elizabeth died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Prince George and Princess Charlotte attended her state funeral and service later that month.

Now that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are back in the classroom, Prince William and Princess Kate will return to royal duties after the summer break. The couple’s last public engagement was a fun one – attending the Wimbledon men’s final with Prince George and Princess Charlotte in July.

Prince William already has a big business trip on the calendar for September: he was scheduled to travel to New York for events on September 18 and 19, including the Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit. The event serves as a build-up to the Earthshot 2023 awards ceremony to be held in Singapore on November 7.
