Demi Moore’s Sleek Cannes Look Is My New Outfit Formula for Summer Weddings and Parties — Shop It from $15

Demi Moore did not pack lightly for Cannes.

The 61-year-old actress attended the film festival at the premiere of the film Substance and appeared on the red carpet several times in glamorous dresses by Schiaparelli, Armani and Balenciaga. But since then, her relatively casual appearance at the photocall has remained in my memory (and not only because she arrived holding her adorable dog Pilaf).

I recently went to a wedding and didn’t like what I wore, but Moore’s combination of chic cat-eye sunglasses, a strapless maxi dress, and a tank top would be perfect — so I’m bookmarking this outfit recipe for the next summer wedding or formal party which appears.

Another thing I love about this outfit plan is that each piece is so versatile. Sunglasses and flat glasses can be worn regularly after the event, and the style of the dress is so timeless that it will always be good to have on hand as an “in case of emergency” option.

Moore and I feel right at home in black and dark colors, as I recently learned after re-watching Project Zoe (Moore was a longtime client of Rachel Zoe and features prominently in the series). Going strapless makes a dark maxi dress much more suitable for summer, visually and in terms of comfort. Moore’s dress was created by Milan-based brand Del Core, but we found affordable options at Nordstrom, Lulus, and Amazon—all $150 or less.

Unfortunately, the black By Far Regina shoes that Moore wore are almost completely sold out (except for size 35), but these black leather Dolce Vita pointed toe shoes will do just fine.
