Princess Kate announcement could be on way because of growing pressure on Palace, royal expert says

PRINCESS Kate could go public with her health condition amid mounting pressure on the palace, a royal expert has claimed.

Kate was last seen on public duty on Christmas Day, and has been out of action since undergoing abdominal surgery in January.

The mum-of-three is not expected to return to her royal duties before the Easter holidays.

In an attempt to reassure the public, she posted a Mother’s Day photo – taken by William – of herself and the children.

However, Kate ended up causing even more hysteria and crazy conspiracy theories because of a photo she altered using Photoshop.

Now, royal historian Hugo Vickers has said there will be “more pressure” the longer Kensington Palace withholds any announcement.

Vickers was asked if there was a growing sense that we were getting to the point where an announcement would be made regarding Kate’s health.

He exclusively told The Sun: “Well, it’s not impossible because there’s been a lot of pressure on Kensington Palace, and the longer they leave it, I imagine the pressure will be greater.

“So, I don’t know, but let’s wait and see. There could be some kind of announcement.

“Yesterday it was suggested in the Sunday Times that there would come a time when Catherine, when she was completely better, you know, would sort of talk about her illness, whatever it was, in an appropriate way.

“Obviously it’s all up in the air.”

‘LEAVE HER ALONE’

Kate was embroiled in painful criticism for her edited picture for Mother’s Day.

The Princess of Wales enjoyed a walk with husband Wills in her first public outing since major surgery

And Hugo added that the public should “leave her alone” during an understandably fragile time.

He added: “The photo was well-received when it first came out and later criticized.

“But as the week went on, I think the general attitude here in Britain and among intelligent people was suddenly, oh, come on, you know.

“Leave her alone, let her heal at her own pace. We admire and respect her.

“Why are we treating her like she’s some kind of criminal because maybe, you know, she tried to enhance the photo in one way or another.

“It was very unattractive what was done last week, but I think the sympathy is absolutely there.”

OUT AND AROUND

As the Princess of Wales tries to get back to her normal life, she has been spotted three times since Kensington Palace announced her three-month recovery.

In the latest sightings, Kate headed to her favorite farm shop on Saturday.

Onlookers said she looked “happy, relaxed and healthy” during the visit a mile from her home at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor.

In a further boost on Sunday, Kate and William spent the morning watching children George, ten, Charlotte, eight, and Louis, five, play sports.

THE BATTLE FOR HEALTH

Palace sources told The Sunday Times that Kate wants to talk about her health battle – but only when she returns to her first duties.

A friend said: “She and William are at their most open when they are out interacting with the public.

“I see a world where a princess could talk about her recovery at an engagement party.

“If she was going to do it, that’s how she would have done it.

“They appreciate the public’s love and affection for their children and know there is a public appetite to see them at their birthday parties.”

Kensington Palace says Kate is “doing well” and will only offer significant updates as she recovers.

A friend said Wills and Kate were “shaken” by the internet hysteria over her health and the fallout over her Mother’s Day photo.

But they said the couple refused to be pressured into revealing details.

The friend added: “They’ll want to be clear and open, but they’ll do it when they feel ready.

“I would expect it to be her instinct and it would be her decision. They will not be rushed.”

‘Leave Kate’

THE Sun led the defense of Princess Kate last week when she was criticized from all sides over the photo-edited saga.

Trolls on social media were quick to attack the Queen-to-be for her editing of a family picture for Mother’s Day.

Media critics also weighed in with idiotic conspiracy theorists, but The Sun stood alone and said: Fire Kate.

Our front page exploded: “Furious attacks on the Queen-to-be for photoshopping a family picture for Mother’s Day are not just absurd.

“Now they look like a campaign of violence against a devoted mom recovering from major surgery who simply wanted to offer the public a perfect portrait of her and her children.

“She meant well, she made a mistake and confessed. Fair enough.

“Now leave her alone to get over her surgery.”

‘CATESPIRATIONS’

Kate was discharged 13 days after the operation in January.

But as she recovered, speculation about her health grew online.

It was further boosted when William pulled out of the memorial service last month.

“Katespirations” ranged from her cosmetic surgery to appearing as a contestant on The Masked Singer.

Kate is unlikely to return until April 17 when her children return to Lambrook School near Ascot after the Easter holidays.

But it was reported last night that she had not ruled out a return to the public eye on Easter Sunday when she could join her family in the traditional walk to church in Windsor.
