Queen Charlotte: Reynolds actor has a very famous dad – and they look so alike

We’ve been obsessed with Queen Charlotte for weeks now – but how much do you know about the show’s stars behind the scenes? While playing the sidekick to a fainting king in the Netflix drama, Reynolds is played by Freddie Dennis, who comes from an acting family. Find out more…

Freddie is actually the only son of actor and comedian Hugh Dennis, who is perhaps best known for his role in Fleabag, as the bank manager who helped Fleabag get through tough times, and Outnumbered, as the patriarch of the family, Pete.

While the couple don’t often share photos of each other on social media, the couple did share a photo of themselves taking part in a race for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity in 2015 – and the the same is strange!

Freddie made some close friends while working on the show, and Corey Mylchreest, who plays King George, recently revealed that they are now roommates. Talking about who might be the best mentor, he told PopBuzz: “Maybe I’ll go, Sam [Clemmett]I mean, Sam could be a valuable ally [India], maybe my mentor on the show, Freddie Dennis, who I’m living with now, because I didn’t know him before. Who are we kidding, it’s Freddie.

Speaking of his role with TV Insider, Freddie said: “What I’d say is that if I could give him one piece of advice, it would be. [to] communicate more. He would feel so much better if he could share what he was going through with the one he loved.”

He added: “[A shared duty] It’s certainly something they admire in each other, but I think their love goes deeper than the same jobs and the same sense of duty. I think they love each other for who they are.”

Of course, fans were left devastated by the show’s final scene, which saw an older Brimsley dancing alone without Reynolds, and Freddie had no idea what happened any more than we do! He said, “They don’t [give us a reason for his absence]. You have to ask Shonda [Rhimes] or Tom [Verica]but we always say he’s on vacation in Barbados.”

He’s also been open about playing Bridgerton’s first major LGBTQ characters, telling Out: “They’ve created such a safe space. Obviously with all the intimate scenes, it’s demanding. Our conversations around the scenes and the fact that they were there on set and talking to us and the choreography really made it a great experience, Great.”

This is not Freddie’s first television role, having previously appeared in The Nevers in 2022, just a year after graduating from Oxford Theater School in 2021.
